Employment attorney here. The FMLA generally only applies when you or a family member have a serious health condition. While COVID can qualify, if the family member only has a mild case, it likely will not. You can always apply, but be wary of just taking time off with the expectation that it will be approved. Instead, I would ask HR what benefits might be available first.

I went through an identical issue earlier this year. Luckily my firm just noted I was out and won't ding me on hours. Hopefully everyone gets better within a couple weeks and you don't have to take too much time off. (Vacation/sick time should only be used when you're not sick)

Been considering getting out of Big4 consulting for a while now. Recently started interviewing and got an offer out of the blue. Do I tell my manager I’m leaving the company before their 5 day birthday PTO or after? If I tell, it would be the day before their last day. If I hold on to it will be 2 weeks before my last day. I want to help interview for replacement if they want me to. Also wrapping up my project and Demi going into surge support work, which I expect to do while they’re OOO.
