Does me no harm. Makes some others feel better. Happy to do it.

I do - if there’s a way I can make someone else feel comfortable by doing it and normalizing, then why not? It hurts no one to be more inclusive.

Honest take: I do not want to have to lead with my gender. I do understand the intent behind it so I don’t mind those who do. I’ve also never been mistaken for a gender that was not my own.

I think this is a personal choice thing and would be inappropriate for a company to mandate.

We were encouraged, not ordered. Heartbeat isn't a place where people are punished for opting in or out of such things.

I like it - but for a funny reason. Sometimes while writing emails to teams in other offices... I can't tell by name alone if im communicating with a male or female so I constantly repeat the person's name over and over... Now I can write "he or she" and not sound like a crazy person. Plus if it's in the signature for gender identication, I definitely want to make the person feel comfortable and address them correctly. 👍🏾

I'm not sure who you are, OP, but if you're not comfortable including your pronouns in your signature, don't. There will be no repercussions. That's not how things work here. Maybe James's email should have made that explicit, but I think his intention was to explain why many of us are including our pronouns, and why it is important to many of our colleagues.

I do, and I encourage everyone else to do so - especially anyone who claims to be an ally. It takes less than 60 seconds of your time, and makes other humans feel much more accepted, seen, and like they belong. It’s literally the least we can do.

I put mine in email because for whatever reason, people tend to address me by last name which is generally male. 😑

We're encouraged to. I don't because I have a masculine name, so it's not something I see being an issue.

I added my pronouns to my templated signature several months ago, out of respect for my child who is non binary. No one has said a peep from Corp Comms. A few colleagues have emailed me, asking why I had “she/her” as part of my sign off, not knowing what it meant. I explained to them that I was supporting the LGBTQ community and non-binary people who don’t identify with their birth gender. Surprisingly, they had no idea what I was talking about so I sent them this link. www.bottomline.org/content/support-gender-inclusive-pronouns. I’m happy to see a few other random sign offs now with pronouns. I don’t think employees should be forced to add them, but honestly, I believe it will be second nature in the near future. And an absolute inclusive sentiment. This isn’t about gender expression, it’s about ones identity. And we should respect that.

Ours hasn’t. I love when I see it in people’s sigs or hear people say it live, but I’m in the same boat as VP1 — I prefer not to lead with my gender.

I have a gender ambiguous name and work global so have always made a point to get on the phone/vid conf ASAP. Genuinely not sure if I’m being old school but my preference as I was rising was usually 1) impress you w ideas/effectiveness over email, 2) allow for title to be digested, 3) present as female

Recently I had two rounds of interview with KPMG for a content lead role.

The HR, on call, confirmed that I'd cleared the second round and would schedule an on-shore round when the team was available.

Couple of days later, the HR informs me that the position in on hold and they'll call me if something else comes up.

This felt so wrong. Can't figure out if they hired someone prior and were just messing with me? Can I do something here?

I’m a generalist. My leadership is enamored with every specialist lawyer they meet, literally salivating to hire them as GC, until their aspirations are dashed by the lawyer’s limited scope and huge and unobtainable price tag. The more specialists they meet, the more they think I’m useless, even though I do 90% of the company’s substantive legal work and we go months at a time without using outside counsel. I do solid consistent work across our whole spectrum of needs, how do I advance?
