what are the difficulties in changing job of green card application in process? I-140 is in process?
What's the best consulting firms for H1B folks who have studied masters in STEM here? Got a cousin graduating this fall and he needs to know H1B/GC policies.
Any H1b had a leased car and had to leave country due to Visa rejection or layoff? How did you manage the lease termination? Did you pay the remaining lease with penalty or did the dealer do any concessions?
After receiving Green Card (employer sponsored), is there a minimum period that one needs to work with the sponsoring employer before switching? Asking from a legal/USICS’s point of view, not ethically.
I am almost 2 years into my H1B. They haven’t started my I140 but when I joined told me that I would be eligible in a year of which I am coming up on in this Oct. I got a new offer today but they told me that they would apply I140 after a year from when I join. The pros of the new one is TC more than 18k with sign-on of 15k (not sure clauses for this) and better wrk-life bal). My question is, how long into H1B is it advisable to have an I140 applied for. Would 3-4 years into my H1B be too late?
Thinking outside the box: need H1B renewal stamping, eligible for Dropbox in my home country. However, going there is still risky in case of a 221g and consulates closed. Can I send my passport to my home country through a friend for Dropbox stamping? Once the stamping is done, I can travel to home country (after they courier my passport back) Is this possible or am I going crazy?
Peeps, what happened if when you got married to a citizen while in the process of getting work green card? Does the company make you return the fee they pay for the application?
Is Accenture h1b dependent ?
Anyone here who went for H1B stamping recently? How was it? Did you have any problems with 221(g)? F1 to H1 here,
I have 3/6 years left on my H1B and my employer is filing it now (switched jobs). Is that enough time?
Got selected for H1B but already accepted offer at another company for 2x pay. Is staying at the company and getting the visa worth it? What are the risks for immediate transfer if the other company is willing to wait? Current visa expires in 2 years.
Was talking to this girl ( arranged marriage ) over the past couple of months(jun-sep) and things were progressing towards in the correct direction. During our inital conversion in the early stages, I had mentioned everything about my status (h1b. with early stages of perm,i-140 stage) and told her how she won't be able to get EAD immediately after coming the US) All of sudden she said(oct) she now does not want to come to the US as my status does not allow her to work immediately in the US.
Qq - I recently noticed that I am missing an old (not current) i-797 approval notice. I have the scanned (soft) copy but not the original notice. Do we need older notices for any future filings (e.g. green card, AOS filing, naturalization etc.)? Wondering if I should order a copy or not needed.
Given long wait times to get green card, do you all prefer to keep renting or buy a house since life can’t stop. Thoughts?
Key West vs Miami for a baby moon in December / January? Any Marriott recommendations for a low key getaway in either location?
For people here making less than 100K who max out their 401K / HSA, can I have a conversation with you about your taxes paid ? Is it significantly less or is your take home significantly less ? Trying to assess the financial impact to my take home if I max out my 401K. Ty!
Need tips for managing sanity with a client dominating your life. Tell yourself it can't last forever? Set boundaries (how?!?)? I love my job, teams, etc. But this client drives me to job search.
Hello all - I got hired by a company based in Massachusetts for a 100% WFH role and will be moving to Texas. Because I’m based in Texas and the company in mass, do I still have to pay income tax in Mass? Big reason for moving to Texas was COL
You guys, what’s a weekly rate? This kinda smells like some bullshit.... isn’t is just a way to make you work weekends for way less money than you’d normally make with a day or hourly rate?
Went in for a scan yesterday because I was having spotting and cramping at 12 weeks. The OB saw fluid behind the baby’s neck and is referring us to see a high risk doctor immediately. NIPT was negative. I’m panicking. Have any of you been through this?
My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
153 unique agencies in this bowl. Wonder how many individuals? Feeling pretty genius given that I created it. 🙌. Now, anyone hiring strategists?
Anyone have any experience with Foley & Lardner. Curious to know about their culture, lifestyle and industry reputation.
I got the J&J vaccine (only one I could get back in April) and unlike the MRNA vaccines, it looks like there is very little data on how it performs against the Delta variant. Any other J&Jers out there feeling a little nervous?
Is anyone hearing anything official from their corporate overlords on returning to the office? My company is still being very quiet on what the return to the office will look like in terms of when we will go back and what the mix will be between in office and WFH.

Hey any suggested way of how i should split my investment post 401k max out n IRA? Say i have 50k in saving then around 15k in HYSA, 20k in S&P500 and 15k in stocks? Something on these lines as in what is suggested
I’m pretty sure colleagues at my firm are inflating their billable hours. Is this the norm? I suspect many of you will think this is obvious and/or that I’m naive but wtf? I find hitting 2200 is tough even with a good sized work load. Am I just expected to play the game? I don’t want to sound self-righteous but if most are lying just to make the requirement, then maybe the requirement should be lower.
