Hi- it is true, based on what the company benefits are in comparison to what you currently have as a contractor. If they offer 401k match, bonus structure, health benefits which you currently don’t have as a contractor, then yes, you need to take those in consideration. Is it worth taking a 40% pay cut? Probably not.

usually contracting rates are full time since you will be receiving benefits, but you need to compare everything in an offer, not just the salary, especially if benefits are important. good luck!

I graduated in May 2020 and found myself excepting a Junior Art Director position in Healthcare. I never saw myself in health but with many agencies having hiring freezes I decided to get some experience and save up some money in the meantime. Fast forward one year; I’ve added a new campaign to my website and I’m starting to apply to consumer agencies again. Any tips to help me make the transition? Any place to avoid? Who have you noticed is hiring again? Thanks in advance :)

Question— do you share your comp with close friends? Me and my roommate have been friends forever and while I don’t really share my specific pay, Im not sure if I should share it with her. When she got promoted she told me her comp tho I didn’t ask. Today I found out I was promoted (🎉) and left that part out. She asked me if I knew what my raise would be and I just told her the % but not the actual amount. Is that unnecessarily secretive? We’re in diff industries too.
