Have anyone successfully negotiated down their rent due to Covid? I’m in NYC and my management has been very inflexible.

Not mid-lease. If you’re re-signing you might have a small chance.

I’d threaten to walk lease and ask for a discount. You’ll learn something about yourself and the rental market regardless of how if goes.

like

I mean they could not renew your lease when it’s time or raise it an astronomical amount, then you have no option except for moving..

You lose your job? Or just looking to benefit from the pandemic?

My roommate lost her job & my office is remaining remote through the end of the year & I can work remotely my family home - so we are trying to figure out what can be done about our lease.

Not likely, also, anything you negotiate you’ll just still be responsible for later. Either you pay now or later

like

No, but they tried to raise it and we said no and they agreed

Same

0% chance - your best bet is negotiating little to no increase at renewal

like

Did you lose your job ? If not why are you trying to lower your rent?

Want to buy property in / near NYC. I know with covid prices in the city (I’m assuming the 5 boroughs) went down, while prices outside of the city went up. Is that enough of a move in the market to make it worth it to buy in the city (and not in Long Island for example)?

Moms, I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old. Everyone on my family is vaccinated. What are safe activities to do with these kiddos in the midst of all this covid variant environment. I thought about the pumpkin patch, hiking, the park, and walks as long as we distance from others. I just get nervous about catching colds or a breakthrough covid infection. I’m not paranoid, just risk averse. The whole family got the TSV bug a month ago, and it was miserable. Just trying to be practical, but not a

Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”

Latest word on the street for any provider systems hiring? Seems most are still on a freeze for non-clinical roles. I was laid off during Covid a few months ago and honestly don’t want to go back to consulting. Most of my experience is in provider work (rev cycle, operations) and have reached out to my network but looks like I’ll have to wait it out much longer, or try a new industry.

Fish Friends, what are the foods and recipes that you've started adopting in the COVID world? I'll start with my super easy flatbread pizza, improvised due to laziness and a lack of yeast and baking materials available. 2 cups of flour and a half cup of water. Add a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil and knead. Then you just roll it out as thin as possible and add whatever you want! Anything! Bacon? Onions? Peppers? Mozzarella? Chuck the whole thing in a 500F oven for like 18-22 min.

Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
