What do u do
Closest equivalent at most companies is probably a Transformation Officer except I also have some execution/solution delivery responsibilities in addition to the strategy/PMO stuff
Ya, this is pretty standard. I feel like $300-$400k is where most people start to plateau. You have hit it early- enjoy the spoils….
Reality is to start breaking thru $400k, you either need to get lucky- Like stock appreciation or acquisition- OR you need to shift out of IC roles and into management/leadership. Most of those roles will actually want 15+ years of exp. Lot of these roles also are hard to get if you havent been at a company for a while- look at the resume of most VPs and they will have gotten that title from putting in a lot of years at the same company.
Bottom line- ‘switch jobs every 2 years’ mentality starts to break at the $350-$400k range as it will probably be a more lateral move…
Yeah - already made a move to management, took over a team of 10 about 18 months ago.
Just cant see myself playing the "wait your turn" game for 6-7 more years in my current role.
Think im going to pursue the PE/VC firm -> PE/VC portfolio company route to pick up some great experience while accelerating path to VP+.
What was your base pay progression over time? Where were your biggest jumps?
Ehh.. base pay starts to flatten out so probably not best measure. Close to 40% of my TC right now is some kind of incentive pay (cash+annual RSU grants). My base pay has only increased about 50% over last 6 years but TC is up 100%.
What’s your current role? And where?
Lead transformation office at a F500.
