@D1 you said it! I sometimes feel like I am walking on eggshells around creatives. I think this whole “I know better cos I make the work” attitude is so outdated.
Agency life is dealing with too many cooks.
I’ve experienced times where the creative team has verbally expressed appreciation for the briefing experience. It happened after acknowledging what was “broken” about the bridging process and updating the brief with input from the team. Usually, the other cooks that are hesitant for change don’t realize that sometimes breaking from the old process can lead to a solution for improvement.
I’ve found the key is to collaborate on the final rounds of the brief with the creative lead, privately. First, they’ll make it way better. But most importantly, when you’re delivering the brief, they’ll talk about it as “our brief” and nothing you could ever do would replace the creative team seeing their lead stand up for the brief.
Agreed! Process can always be improved! And a good idea can come from anyplace.
