Same. Except I have no savings or financial security.

But would you really want to be back at 0 savings in two years if that happens?
Pro
Right, that’s literally the only think keeping me from doing it.
Yup, financial independence is great. Allows you to be more strategic and long term focused vs short term
I wouldn’t be comfortable unless I was at a point where I could retire off savings/investments. And I’m far from that.

I’ll also say that this has coincided with rolling onto a project where I am really quite uninterested in the work and the managers and I are not a great fit...so all in all, it has really been quite hard for me to find motivation to put up with it all
Yup. I have realized this and now I’m ok with coasting 9-6 as opposed to killing myself with late nights.

I get it. Hmm... maybe you can walk away, though? If you know you can be good for two years, you could quit and take your time finding something that’s more of a better fit. It would probably take way less than two years to do.
no because you have no leverage if you just leave with no job lined up. future employers will always think you were fired (there's no way for them to verify the reason you left your prior employer because it's illegal for them to ask).
Pro
Not sure where you live, but in the US a potential employer can absolutely ask (if you give permission) the reason you left, and clarify that it was of the employees own choosing.
Also, I’d argue that the ability, and your company knowing your ability, to just ‘walk away’ if you are mistreated is great leverage to have. There is a reason people stay in miserable jobs and employees know it...
Also gives you the opportunity to take on more challenging, higher risk roles that may get you further in life than “playing it safe”
What’s the point of having fu money if you never say fu?

Agreed
Weird flex, but ok
Same here. I have enough saved that if I don't have a job for a year or 2, I will still be fine. It keeps me sane when working knowing that I have the ability to just leave if work ever got too overwhelming or if I just want to travel for a few months. Good for you!
Yes, I did this. Makes you have a lower tolerance for toxic work environments, horrible bosses, or BS work which is a good thing. If you are ambitious it will just help you have better standards and not settle.
