The not meeting deadlines or conducting projects as expected - what is the root cause of that? Are you not moderating your time appropriately? Are you not getting clarity on deliverables? Those seem very fixable, and the fact that you’ve had this feedback repeatedly means you might want to see what other tactics you can use to improve in these areas.
Examples of tactics: sending emails clarifying the deliverables to your boss and timing for the deliverables. Blocking off time in your calendar to complete the deliverables. Using a physical planner to write to-do lists.
On your first question. I believe the root cause is struggling with prioritisation of tasks and also I am working on my bias to action (procrastination)
In terms of tactics, I work in marketing and a large part of my role involves project management. I haven’t been formally trained in project management, so the practices I apply to my work all come from me and I wouldn’t say I use (best practice) just create my own approach (which is probably why it isn’t working)
I think I should get certified or some sort of training around managing multiple projects/streams of work.
And then finally thank you for those tactic suggestions. Asking clarifying questions is big - i learned that in my last role. Asking a tonne of questions upfront and also along the way helps ensure I’m taking the right approach. I think my pride gets in the way of that because I always like to feel like I’ve figured something out on my own.
