I used an online company to get my diagnosis and to do my monthly medication management / check up. I would’ve had to wait nearly a year and pay thousands to get diagnosed through providers in my state and so I would highly recommend Circle Medical (a UCSF health affiliate). Based on my personal experience, getting a diagnosis is life changing - even if you choose to not receive any treatment or medication. It provides a greater understanding of how your brain functions and how to work with it.
I’m in Virginia looking at getting diagnosed and the range given was $600-$1000 for the assessment.
Look into online options and understand your benefits at work as well to see if you can reduce cost. I think it’s important for you to get a proper diagnosis for whatever your issue is, and recognize that there is a chance it isn’t ADHD.
Depression or other symptoms that combine to have a similar effect is common.
Optimizing your treatment can take time. Also spend time making sure you’re taking other steps that improve your well-being - diet, exercise, and forming routines are some ways.
I got a full diagnosis from a neuropsychologist which cost about 1500. Glad I was able to move forward after it but feel like there must have been more pragmatic ways to get it.
Was on guanfacine then wellbutrin, none of them made me feel anything aside from tiredness
My adhd definitely leads me to bouts of depression, but I also have MDD. Guanfacine can dull your cognitive function. /9 be careful don’t that. And Wellbutrin is an anti depressant, so that can definitely bring you down.
It honestly took a lot of therapy for me😅 I thought a lot of my symptoms stemmed from anxiety, but it seems that a lot of my anxiety comes from my adhd. I definitely suggest going to a therapist with intention of understanding the impact adhd can have on your life. I know you don’t have a diagnosis yet, but it can be helpful to have that frame around things
My neuropsych evaluation costed $4400 - insurance covered it but because I had not hit deductible I had to pay the amount :(
