Hi fishes, in urgent need of your suggestions.
One of my friend is having offer from Oracle Pune for software developer role in Oracle store team. but he does not have clear idea of the role whether it will be operations, support or development work.
Does anyone know what kind of work is there in store team. Also, is it possible to change the project once we get inside?
Urgent suggestions required...
Thanks!

Don’t underestimate the detriment of sleep-deprivation and stress/social anxiety.
I find that I feel the most “spacey”/inattentive when I’m sleep deprived/stressed.
My most productive days I wake up well rested, drink caffeine, exercise/enjoy a brisk walk, and take at least 15 minute breathers between meetings/tasks.
Agree wholeheartedly with this comment - all of this plus medication helped me tremendously. I actually made a checklist/template with mini-goals for diff areas of my life. Follows the tiny habits methodology roughly. It’s all about finding the small starter actions that can bubble over into the habit you want to create.
Great example for me is going to bed earlier. If the reason I’m not in bed earlier is because I’m putting off washing my face or brushing my teeth, I might add a goal that says “right after dinner head to bathroom”. Once I’m in the bathroom - I will most likely do the routine. It’s just the motivation piece of ADHD and the number of steps for each task that consistently feels daunting.
good reason not to trust me at this point. I'm heartbroken at how deeply this issue of inattention has affected my life, especially now. I'm in the process of connecting with a doctor but it's going to be a while (new country, navigating new healthcare system). What can I do in the meantime? What do I do if medication doesn't work for me? Should I leave this high-stress job? Tried Ritalin briefly several years ago but it made me antsy, and Bupropion worked a little but kept me up at night. Gave up and haven't tried anything else since but I've only barely been holding on to my sanity.
Also wanted to thank everyone here. Just knowing I'm not alone has been a great help.
Record important conversations just in case and then you can play them back at 2x if you need to. It’s time consuming and it sucks but it sure is a life saver sometimes. Just make sure to delete them afterwards for privacy reasons and so that you don’t end up with a stack of recordings. If you can write down like markers for the times around where they said important stuff that’s also helpful so that you don’t have to listen to the whole thing. I don’t really do this anymore but when I’m feeling particularly off or have run out of meds it’s a pretty good insurance policy
I don't have many helpful answers since I am in a similar situation though it hasn't affected my work as deeply. Wishing you luck as you find the best doctor for you, and in the meantime I highly suggest practicing self care in your off-work hours and making sure to forgive yourself when things go wrong. If you have a good relationship with your manager I do think it's good to be open - you don't have to share every detail of your condition but voicing over some stress concerns will be helpful for them to help you during the work day. Hope it works out 🤞🏽
Totally - this is a given but forgiving yourself is a constant challenge that no one gets right in days, months or even years, especially in high stress jobs. But sometimes that little reminder can be of comfort when mistakes are made, no mather how frequent
You are not alone. Happens with me when I am working on multiple projects. Things that have worked for me are: 1. tag teaming with another peer which takes pressure off of me and I am able to navigate, leveraging my peer’s organizational skills, and focus my energies on problem solving which is what I am good at. I can’t organize or lead. Downside is that the peer might get more visibility and if they are unprofessional they’d take credit for everything. But I get to learn and I can manage the next time. 2. Write down everything. Verbatim sometimes. At one point I was known as the most detailed notes taker in the team. I still take far more meeting notes than the associates on the team. Because I cannot remember after 2 hours. 3. If too chaotic, I sit down over the weekend or during the day… write down project context, all to-dos, explain to myself and prioritize and plan the course of things. Sometimes I delegate to others. I am not medicated for other reasons. These may not be the best practices but this is how I cope. Sometimes I fail and that’s okay too.
