Have not taken great care of my oral health until now. Nothing too crazy, but haven’t flossed everyday, not brushed twice a day, eaten a lot of processed foods, etc. I have a few root canals already but it was never painful. How much irreversible damage have I caused, and is there anyway I can make up for it?

Actually, you CAN reverse early decay! I had the beginning of a cavity, but my dentist told me if I did everything right, I could remineralize the enamel and eliminate the cavity. This meant keeping it extra clean (dentist cleaned, then I brushed twice a day and flossed at least daily), keeping mouth healthy to stop decay (not eating sugary foods, drinking lots of water) and most importantly using a high fluoride mouthwash. I did all of that and at my next dental visit, x-rays showed no cavity!

Maintaining your gums also makes a big difference. Floss and/or use a water pik, plus rinse with antiseptic mouthwash (I use separate fluoride and antiseptic rinses).

Talk to your dentist.

But my impression is that tooth damage is irreversible. Every fix is going to be some artificial graft (e.g., for gum recession) or implant or whatever. Best you can do is to change your habits and maybe go an extra mile (fluoride, etc.) so the decay is slower than average.

As a job seeker, what would be the benefits of taking a 12 month contract with no "contract-to-hire" statement in the listing over a salary or contract-to-hire position? I'm currently questioning if I should look for other opportunities, but potentially giving up my 401k, health insurance, and other benefits is nerve-racking, especially as a head of a household of four. Would it be beneficial to start a LLC or something if I were to go this route? I've only held salary positions in tech.

Seriously considering cutting off a friend. Told her I was concerned about catching covid since I live with my parents and my grandma is with us. She wanted me to come visit her and I told her it wouldn’t be wise since there’s a pandemic. She insisted saying that she’s been quarantining. Now I found out she’s partying and travelling on flights and it feels like she lied. Am I overreacting?

I’d like input!

I am currently a charge nurse and am in a “Pathway to Leadership Program” that will come with promotions into leadership/administration. I am concerned that going through the leadership ladder will lead to a lot of politics.

I am thinking of getting a masters of healthcare informatics, and would love input from people in both industries and any advice you have!

Would you continue into the nursing leadership ladder or go into health informatics (which also has leadership!)?

How do you approach giving feedback to your boss who is not great at managing, but became your friend? I’ve been in this situation twice. Both times required me to escalate it to their bosses (direct feedback didn’t work or wasn’t an option), but I was afraid to shatter our friendship this way because it would’ve been obvious that I told on them. I’m still good friends with both, and while I no longer work with them, I still wouldn’t bring myself to tell them.
