I’ve had equity granted to me at startups before, but now I am diving into a public company and their compensation states: Competitive Salary + Bonus + Equity.

My question is, what typically does an equity grant look like at a public company? Is it an exorbitant amount like thousands od options/RSU’s or just like 50 shares? Thank you all in advance!

I recently interviewed with VMWare and cleared all rounds. It was via a consulting firm. I got a confirmation that I am selected and HR will contact for offer discussion. However after sometime they called again and told me that HR has told that they will have offer discussion in January. Is it normal? I am the only son in the family and my parents have settled in my hometown or native place in punjab.
I am feeling guilty of moving away from home as they would be all alone after I move out.
