Have only ever been in consulting so excuse the stupid question, but who is 'the hiring manager'? Is it literally the manager who placed the need for someone, and who you'll be working with? Or is it

The one who decides whether you get the job and either pays for it, or goes to the person who pays for it and makes the case that the role needs to exist.

I would argue that when a consulting req is put in, technically the hiring manager is the lead of the practice BUT you often don’t interview with them. The talent team is constantly running reports that analyze market need in relation to attrition. These elements drive the requisition.

Is there something specific you’re trying to figure out?

Just curious, like you said, in consulting it's the group lead whom you'll likely never work with or even meet. If the hiring manager is your direct manager just feels like alot more added pressure to preform and prove that you're worth the salary lol

Most of the hiring managers I've interacted with have been the direct manager of the role.

What are your thought in job hopping? I feel like recruiters are reaching out daily to offer a newer, higher paying position at competing PR agencies. Does it look bad to switch large agencies every 1-2 years? The pay raise is over 10k but I feel like this may make my resume look unattractive in the future since I switched companies during COVID.

What do I wear to an interview?

I am about to start applying for jobs in HR (getting back into my previous industry). I feel out of the loop with business style for women after working in a casual work environment for 5 years and Trainer for 2 years.

What is the best way to dress for a professional role? Skirt suit and heels? Jumper and flats? Where do you typically shop for work clothing?

Any inspiration you can offer is greatly appreciated!

A recruiter has made a text post about my dream unicorn role on their LinkedIn, with no signs of this job posted anywhere else. What else can I do to apply, in addition to just in-mailing then?

I have cleared technical interview at @EXL and have also given another round of interview with VP.

Q1. How long does the VP round feedback take normally?
Q2. What are the next rounds/discussion to expect if I clear this round?
Q3. What is the level and salary that I should expect for a BI developer role at 6 years experience?

Anything else that I should keep in mind during the interview process that helps me land better role/salary? TIA.

I applied for a position in a new department and I didn’t get the job. The manager passed along to the recruiter that another role is opening up within a week and she wanted me to apply for it. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since the recruiter said that and the job still isn’t posted. I emailed her checking in a few days ago, and no response. I have other, less exciting, opportunities in front of me. Do I hold out for this job or move on?

After submitting a job application, personally how long do you wait before not hearing any response that you take the intended job out of consideration and move on? (Not counting those random out of the blue jobs where recruiters hit you up 2-3 months later after you’ve applied.) I’ve been on the hiring end so I know how the processes work, so I give it a week max now as an applicant. I wanted to ask what everyone else’s personal timeline was?
