The problem is that right now especially, politics is a moral thing.
What are the political differences between you? If it's that one of you thinks minorities, women and poor people deserve rights and the other doesn't, then that's not merely a political difference. That's a huge moral difference. Strong relationships are based on shared values.
I agree. And I wish it were so simple. But what happens if you agree on those things and then there’s certain things that a party believes in that a person doesn’t agree with, and therefore decides they don’t want to back either party? Do you feel like not choosing is okay too? I personally go with the idea that the lesser of 2 evils is still better but I guess not everyone feels that way

I think there’s a question of whether that political divide is due to difference in ideologies and values. I think in the past the difference between the parties was more about the views on the economy whereas now it’s leading into differences in social values? And that could lead to differences between 2 people and their lifestyle or where their priorities lie
