for Amazon SDE roles and code assessment. How much do they really do what's in the assessment? I am doing a code assessment this weekend and I am a developer but I don't really do much of complex data structure stuff or map graph stuff I have seen. Is that what Amazon developers do day to day? Depends on your career goals.
Be a long time architect primarily focused on AWS, go to Amazon.
Move into more project management or potentially sales or strategy work then Deloitte (if it’s a consulting role)
Want to stay technical, but have a taste of some consulting with a little less structure (compared to Deloitte) and BS. Slalom
If you’re not sure yet, I’d go AWS. Can’t go wrong there as you’ll basically get a boost on your AWS arch experience and resume with the added bonus of a higher salary and stocks. You can always join slalom/Deloitte if you want later.
Agreed on this analysis. One point to add, OP, it sounds like you got an offer in PDM/USDC at Deloitte. Do your research, because those two areas are not core consulting.
Hmmm, I think I’d do Amazon because it pays more and you’ll probably have more transferable options with higher salaries from other tech companies

The AWS offer seems low. Personally I'd go to slalom get more hands on skills and reapply to AWS in two years ara much higher total comp.
The idea of working the hours that AWS does for the pay you are getting doesn't sit well with me.
I'd go to slalom, get more experience and then head to AWS in a few years for a lot more money. If you are going to put up with the aws lifestyle and hours - you should at least be making huge amounts of money
Go to Amazon, cloud companies are the future. Switch to Microsoft or Google in two years
It depends on what drives you and gives you energy. Slalom you'll have more fun and grow faster through exposure to the grit of things, Amazon will be more structured, more opportunities for diversifying your skills, and probably slightly better exit routes. But it depends very much on what you actually want.
Did 10 years at slalom, and am at AWS now. For your stage of career I would do AWS of those two. More opportunity for depth. More exit opportunities. But do not expect a 6 mo promotion.
Amazon's benefits are not great compared to Slalom and Deloitte. Go to Slalom. They have a better culture than both and way better benefits than Amazon.
Can I ask what you do at Hashicorp and how you like the company? It’s a dream company of mine, want to get others’ perspectives
I’m part of the pre-sales org so working more with implementation and architecture of the enterprise solutions. It has its growing pains, lots of rapid changes to structure makes it hard to stabilize.
What level at Amazon?

OP, you’ll be able to move more quickly, but I’d be cautious there…to get promo in 6 months requires that you start writing your promo doc on your first day. Though *possible*, not likely
