Better to talk about specific funds. To me, that fits my 1yr growth. Given the lack of dip in March 2020, I’d say it’s pretty darn conservative for someone so young.
OP - there are plenty of options, usually.
BR1 - my 401k is all mutual funds. We have vanguard growth and value. I don’t do self directed.
Just do this: 100% in whatever S&P500 or Total Market index fund they have; just pick 1 fund, and it should have close to the lowest expense ratio on the list. Then set your contribution to max out every year. Then log out and don’t look at it again for 5yrs.
God speed 📈🚀

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! Very helpful and great food for thought. I do think there are some great foreign companies like Novartis, Nestle, TSMC, or Keyence (JP) (just some quick examples that come to mind) that I'd miss out on by only holding VTI. But also did somewhat overlook how much US companies in VTI also have plenty of ex-US exposure.
What are you invested in? Returns seem low. What was the return % for just 2021?
Simplicity is key, total stock/total bond or use target date on entire balance. For reference I made 17% in 2021on 90/10, Age 39. You also don’t want to be in and out of funds a lot mutual funds don’t trade like stocks. Pick the funds then set it and forget check back in 6 months if you want.

Why does anyone pick target date funds over sp500?
True, there are years international outperforms. The quirk here also that S&P 500 has some international exposure since many companies do business outside the US. Would be reasonable to have 10-20% in a total international fund.
Imo still way too conservative to have 80-20 stock to bond. I do 85% spy and 15% growth stock. Will change to target date fund when I’m like 40 prob

Any specific growth stock you recommend ?

So do you guys recommend contributing to FXAIX instead of the target fund for EY 401k?
VIGIX is what i have invested most in. VIGIX 90% and Vanguard Institutional 500 Index Trust 10%
What's a good S&P index fund to buy on Vanguard? I also work at Deloitte and want to reorganize my 401K
Yes. Its marginally different.
Thank you all for these valuable inputs. I will change my contribution and monitor it after few months.
I started with maybe 6% from 2018 and now at 10% always been for roth. Now it's at around 28000 is that normal?
I only put in the money that my company is going to match.
The rest goes into my individual brokerage account, crypto, or real estate. I like the idea of having this liquidity versus keeping it in a 401(k) till I’m retired.
Yes it is possible, I have 100% stocks and aggressive growth ones on that.
My returns are higher but also very risky, not for everyone
Move your stuff to crypto if you have big balls
What is your salary and how much are you contributing? Is this the only savings you have? I have close to this amount saved up but I planned a wedding and had multiple expenses etc
Sorry, base is 203k and bonus varies between 10-20%. Last years TC was 235k
You need to spend $76.90 right this second for a flattering ending balance!
