Mid size Atlanta firm here. I had graciously given my firm plenty of advance notice that I was moving to Seattle this summer (irony/no good deed goes unpunished) since I knew a lot of attorneys would be out on maternity leave when I was planning to move. I was called yesterday and pressured to move up my end date and shift to a contract attorney role (aka no health insurance coverage). Feel pretty taken advantage off / pushed out on freaking day one of this crises.
Good judgment. Best of luck to you. And don’t let the terrible behavior of one sleezeball change your approach to the world. Always take the high road.
This thing is just getting started. If a big firm has already performed layoffs, those were already in the works, or the firm was already in deep trouble.
V50. No layoffs. Department leaders are tracking hours to figure out extent of slowdown. Transactional side more concerned than litigation at this point, but both uncertain.
