We have a nanny that comes in for 40 hours per week and I pay her 20/hr. This is Dallas. For whatever reason the nanny market is pretty saturated and it’s hard to find a good one.

Are you married to someone who makes a lot more than you? If not, why not adjust your withholdings to take home more? The floor for take-home pay should be at least 7k higher than yours.

This was almost a decade ago, but we paid $400 a week for two kids for an in-home daycare. I think one kid was $250. We live in the Chicago area. It was on the lower end of what we could have paid.

I think it depends on your situation and what you are comfortable with. My girl went to an in home (around the corner from my house same neighborhood) daycare from 3 months that to until she was 3 years. We then put her in a private school that does infant to 5th grade. I’m happy. She’s happy. It works for us. 🤷🏼‍♀️

There was a thread a bit ago with daycare costs, search past threads because I think there was some good data shared.

Paid $2,550/mo. for a low brow daycare in lower Manhattan. ~$3,200/month ($18/hr) for our current nanny in NJ. Will be paying ~$1,800/mo. for daycare in NJ (would be $2k but get discount through work). Child care is expensive. Usually cheaper as child gets older. Babies cost more than toddlers at daycare.

I pay $70/ day for toddler daycare (2 days) and $18/ hour for nanny (5 days infant, 3 days toddler). It’s basically $45k/year. It would be cheaper for me to do just nanny full time, but toddler loves and gets a lot out of daycare. We started her when she was 2.

Had a child this year. We pay $20/hour in NYC.

Hi!! Any tips/stories on actively interviewing while ✨pregnant pregnant✨. (27 weeks) All potential positions are fully remote, and they are all Mkting Manager/Senior Mkting Manager roles. I have three 2nd interviews coming up, and I am struggling with when to disclose! Two of the companies seem very mom-inclusive so far, so part of me wants to be upfront/honest to build a positive rapport as well as potentially negotiate maternity leave that I would otherwise not qualify for this far along!

It was a slow day.
