McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?

Been traveling 100% for the last 3 years, happy to trade. You’re new, will learn.
Ah, the airplane itch
SC1 I don’t see any of the people I’m working with. I don’t go to the office because it takes over an hour so why waste 2 hours commuting. My entire work day consists just of virtual interactions with the occasional phone call. It’s lonely af.
Yup. Been remote most of this year and I’m going insane
Was just about to say, wanna trade? 10 months straight is a super short amount of time to be travelling, and not even at 80-100%...
Those that say you want to be back on the road, why?
Yes. I was home for a month. Happy to be back on the road...I mean plane
D1, maybe you should get a cat! My cat loves taking conference calls with me on Fridays :)
The grass is always greener ...
I don’t mind being home but find i am far less productive as I have spouse and home stuff to distract me in evenings away from my never ending email pile I tackle with ferocity on the road until 1130pm every night
If you haven't seen Up In The Air, you have to see it.
Yeah fuck my current local project
Agreed, I prefer a every other week travel (helps balance & sanity) I’m on weekly travel through the year end & it’s a minimal adjustment ....but I’ll take that over being local any day. Stay strong!
I do all the time
I’ve been traveling for 5 years straight and well still can’t get enough
Been on the road for 15+ years, have done local projects for a couple years of that and I am happiest when I’m on the road - coz when I’m not traveling, the vacations start costing real $$. Other than that, I do miss the family, home cooking and sleeping in my own bed. Will be starting a local project in July... let’s see how it goes.
Yes!!! Daily commute is driving me nuts. No difference in quality time spent with family.
