Have two art directors, mid level and senior, who write placeholder copy all the time with the intent to present. Sometimes they even write the VO explanation on the storyboards, without asking me for help. Is that normal?

Same. I think it’s also because it helps them get their vision across. And sometimes it’s better than I would’ve wrote it which is totally fine. At the end of the day you’re a team. It beats Lorem Ipsum.

I've had art director partners do that. They've always wanted me to rewrite the voiceover as well. I don't really see it as a problem, especially if it was more their vision than mine.

Thank you, guys. Yeah, i was trying not to let my ego get the best of me, as Im sure those were most likely the motives. It makes sense.

Normal. The expectation is for you to edit or rewrite their copy.

Context: we brainstormed concept and agree on it. They went ahead and put the storyboard together with the vo descr in it. Im obviously expected to provide the full script of whichever concept we land on. But not sure of they are overstepping or just being proactively helpful

I've had art directors write their own placeholder notes. It makes it easier for me to work out what their pacing is like and lets them keep the story running better in their heads. Their copy never sees the light of day though, I will always go in and refine or usually replace it all.

You have to have a talk with them. But you also have to be quick on the draw and send your copy well in advance of when it’s due or they have every write to want to compete the project by the due date. Ask when they need copy and deliver it on time or early.

need advice. I have been working in an interim role as a portfolio manager. I was promised that the role would be mine. However, after doing the job for 2 months, I have been advised that we might not get the funding for the role and I might not get the raise and the title but my responsibilities will be the same. Its a political minefield. How should I back out elegantly that I need to be compensated fairly and competitively from this mess without burning any bridges

I’m just beginning the lateral hunt and looking to make the move from boutique to big law. Curious what firms, if any, are still notoriously strict about law schools even for a mid-level position. My work experience is spot on, but I graduated from a regional school in the Midwest (top 10% and law review board). Hoping to not waste my time applying to firms that will auto-ding because my school isn’t blue chip.
