Ideally, we both spend a little time alone to think and then come together with our ideas. From there we chat about things and write stuff down in a google doc
I feel that simply coming together and brainstorming right off the bat isn't productive.
Rarely have time or space to do it, but I think the best way is to write each idea on its own sheet of paper and stick it to the wall in a conference room
I read an article on advertising brainstorming forever ago (in journal of advertising research that’s right nerd alert) and they said same thing - best for creatives to go off and brainstorm on their own, meet up, discuss their best ideas, pull best nuggets and work from those. Otherwise it’s just 2 people staring at the ceiling. The worst is where you actually do the work and the partner is like “I dunno man I didn’t think of anything...” (Smokes doobie)
Brainstorming in Google Docs changed my life

Def have to work solo first, and then connect with the team. I make sure my idea can be captured in a sentence, and then I write as many as I can think of, set them aside, and then come back a couple hours later and the ones that feel complete and workable always jump out to me at that point.
Wow! Yea I have brainstorming alone as well and meeting up with my partner. It hasn’t caused a problem but I have noticed that there have been some 1 off partners that I have great success with brainstorming together but I’m starting to realize it’s def a chemistry thing.

I LOVE working with a group of people and having a big conversation. All in one room, just throwing shit up on the wall, watching YouTube, re rreading the brief and just diving in with it. But I’m a verbal processor.
