Have you all ever ghosted anyone on a firm initiative? Just straight up stopped replying coz you didn’t wanna do it anymore?

Oh yeah a bunch of times- most of these go into nowhere land and have been completed partially by some other groups. I’ll grin and bare it if it’s a direct ask from a partner that wants to see progress but otherwise I ignore. Has it impacted me? Maybe, but also I don’t care.

Now that’s the spirit

Yes and they told a SM I did 😂 he called me out on it and I had to explain why I ghosted, so just be careful. The initiative lead might be a snitch. But to be fair, I got roped in by someone else and never showed interest in the first place. I think best excuse is to just straight up in beginning shut it down by saying “there’s a lot on your plate” and you’re already doing XYZ.

I try ghosting but then my guilt takes over and I eventually start replying. Lately, I have been clear about my availability and my interests specially with firm initiatives - it has helped a lot and I am not dragged into commitments that I can’t make or interested in.

Partners ghost all the time, if they don’t want to answer in the negative. But it doesn’t work when underlings adopt this behavior..

Ahh not there yet, just starting the on deck year :-) worst year ever for it though lol.

That’s lousy that they would ignore the email and a request for a meeting to discuss. Sorry you’ve experienced that. Any way to escalate beyond them?

Blame it on your coach. Say you discussed what was on your plate and how your initiatives aligned with you interest and goals and that you will have to step away.

I think I’d hear back from others pretty quickly if i did something of that sort

Why not have the convo with them first, that you think it’s not a good fit or it’s not aligned to what you want to build for your brand instead of ghosting?

I feel for you all who have such negative experiences so that you feel like ghosting is the only option. Guess I’m lucky to have not had that experience in 12 years here at D. I check in with my teams too, and regularly make sure that they feel supported / that my firm initiatives are in line with their career goals. If they’re not aligned, then i help them network to get where they want to go. Try to start or keep having the courageous conversations, you may be pleasantly surprised with what then comes back from others. Follow your passions, unapologetically.

Okay not really fashion related but what would do you if you are in my shoes.
One of my Instagram follower (I’ve known her since high school) she stole my picture and put it on her story ... I called her out but she hasn’t responded yet now what should I do? Remove her and block her? I already reported her story but I’m still upset about it. Why would someone do that?

When did you tell work you were pregnant? I am close to the people I work with (ie we hang out outside of work, etc) but wonder if I should tell work after friends. I plan to tell close friends once I get to the second trimester but not sure what to do with work. What did you all do or what would you differently now? The firm I’m at is generally very supportive and so is the team I work with.
