Just a rant on how absolutely stupid the bar is. The fact that I’ve been a well-regarded attorney for many years now but just because I moved states, I need to provide references for every random volunteer position I had going back to college, plus need 8 personal references who can’t overlap with employment references, all just to be authorized to keep practicing law at the exact same law firm I’ve been at for years, is absolutely insane. Not to mention the fees are over a thousand dollars.

LO is 16 months old, very sweet and social, at the park every day with other kids with either me or her nanny. Not in day care. Yesterday we had a play date and she slapped another baby on the head. Not hard and did not scare her, but the act of “aggression” took me by surprise and I felt terrible about it. I have been in cyber security as an architect, engineer and professor for over a decade. A new hire got 2.5x the bonus and my peers all passed me. I was a top performer on my team, managed to keep my staff employed and blew away expectations while growing the business.

Going through a breakup for the first time in my life where neither of us did anything wrong, neither of us are bad people, its just bad timing, conflicting schedules, careers and locations. Decided to go on a break but not really sure it will truly ever come back around.
Feeling very sad and missing him a lot. Getting over someone who is actually a good person is so much harder than getting over a jerk who may have lied, cheated etc.
Its a very strange feeling because theres no hostility.

How do you balance between micromanaging & making sure your team is prepared enough for client meetings?
The team I’m managing is still upskilling on the work we’re doing, but I also am unable to lead every meeting we need to have. I wish I could give them all an exact script to use in sessions with clients so we get what we need, but obviously want them to also feel empowered/learn by doing.
