Due to some room mate shifting I am going to shift from paying 900 a month to about 1300. Only other option was getting a single for 1400, I live in a low cost of living city so didn’t think getting a studio would be worth it consider I work from home. Total compensation will be just other 90k this year. Any tips for making sure I stay on the FIRE PATH? Concerned that I’m now forking over an extra 5k after tax in rent and realizing that losing potential room mates has huge financial implication

Getting a nanny .... my husband and I are looking to hire a nanny for our 7 month old, our 3 y/o goes to pre-school. We've had nannies previously for our 3 y/o but they were both referred by friends. What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.

I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
