no just the illegal jobs.
I really couldn’t stop myself from making the comment 😅 made that one too easy
I was fired from my first legal job (at a mid-sized firm) at the beginning of my 2nd year. They crafted a paper trail to make it look performance-based, but they had acknowledged when I started that it was going to take 18+ months to learn the practice area. So maybe I wasn’t catching on fast enough for them, but I was meeting billable expectations—I think it was an excuse because they didn’t feel I was a good fit. For what it’s worth, I felt the same way, and was in the middle of job hunting when I was axed. They didn’t give me any notice, which to me was the shittiest part about it (they wanted 4 weeks notice from attorneys leaving the firm). I later learned the firm has a reputation for firing associates.
Btw, I still carry around baggage from having been fired. I know it’s a possibility so I’m constantly worried that it will happen again. It was a huge blow to my self esteem as well, and more than a year later I’m still wondering if law is right for me.
Solo plaintiff’s workers comp firm as a records clerk - “just didn’t feel right.” Like wtf kinda explanation was that?
