I work through a contractor, and was hired 2yrs ago to be a Systems Test Engineer II. They decided last minute to make me a Software Content Manager, but kept my title as is since it was supposed to be a 6mo rotation. I’m still an SCM, and am taking on leadership roles in the group. How do I ask for a title change and pay increase to reflect what I actually do? Do I ask my contract house, or my NASA mgmt? Should I ask to make the pay retroactive since I was hired to do one thing, but do another?

Seeking advice - I didn’t graduate with a finance or accounting degree but have recently landed a junior accounting role (billing management / invoicing) I can see myself growing in this field and have started to learn more about financial/economic terms which interests me. I feel really behind and I’m just not sure what career paths are available or what senior roles I should be striving for given my background. Any thoughts as to how I can best develop from my junior accounting role?

For accounting managers and above in industry - what metrics do you have to evaluate your team’s performance? I’m new to industry and my company doesn’t have anything but I’d like to set some goals for my team such as closing by 5th business day, getting all recons done by 20th of the month, submitting JEs by date indicated on close checklist, reducing number of manual JEs, etc. Looking for other ideas that can be quantified and tracked.

For the junior associates out there, I’m a 2020 call and am convinced that I’m taking a lot of time while working on deals. I’m also not really sure how my efficiency compares to other associates as I’m the only junior in the group. The junior partner I work with primarily always tells me to rack up my hours but I’m also afraid of looking inefficient with the more senior partners. Does anyone ever write down their own time? Or is ashamed of how long it takes to draft say a direction to pay?

Hi, ladies. How long has it taken you to find a new job?

I’m currently on the hunt for a new job and I’m feeling really utterly defeated. Over the past year I’ve probably applied to at least 100 jobs and I’ve been on 8 different interviews all with no offer. I’m not sure if I’m doing anything wrong or if there is more being done behind the scenes that have nothing to do with me. Either way, I’m getting frustrated and my productivity in my current position is slacking as a result.

I get bored and depressed way to easily. The only things that make me happy are shopping, eating out, concerts, etc. Consumption, basically. I think it’s because I feel I don’t have a skill I’m REALLY good at and get praised for. But the task of taking time to focus on learning a new skill in addition to my current responsibilities seems so daunting. Any tips how creating excitement within yourself?

Anyone have thoughts on buying property when you’re single at 29? At first, I was thinkin of buying a condo so I could rent it out once I meet and marry someone. But, deep down, I don’t want a condo. I want a house. I don’t think I should plan my wants around waiting on some future man. With that, I am set on getting a house. I am wondering how big it should be bc it’s just me. No man, no kids. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. I currently work on 3 different projects (soon to be 4) where I am the lead and only point of contact between the tech side and our own internal teams/clients. The internals teams that I work with are all m/sm/eds. Someone very glibly pointed out that I’m the most junior person in room as an S2. I work as a pm/ solution architect an am responsible for delivery as well as being the liaison between the aforementioned teams/ clients. Cont.

Does our hair stop growing/become less likely to grow at some point? I am in my late 20s and I went natural/did a chop about three years ago and now I usually (always) wear sew ins and braids. Growing up I had nice relaxed hair that would grow. Now, my hair is just not looking as nice and healthy or like it’s broken and not growing longer.
