Have you ever changed your mind a week after turning down the job offer? It’s so hard when you’ve got small children getting sick all the time and you want to start fresh with no PTO.

But I just called their HR Dept to ask if the job is still available. They just signed a contract with a temp agency. However, they’re looking into reversing it and will let me know.
Where would I go from here??? I’d essentially be giving my boss less than a week’s notice. And I look flippant. :(

I wouldn’t worry about the notice period. While I don’t advise burning bridges, your focus should be on what’s in front of you and not what you’re leaving behind. It’s not uncommon to give less than 2 weeks, I would simply manage that message professionally and with an offer to work extra hours to facilitate the transition.

You've gotta do what's best for you! If they're open to bringing you back in, you should let your boss know as soon as possible!

like

I haven't done that personally but I can understand where you're coming from. It's been a hectic last few years, and looking out for my kids always comes first. What a great organization for attempting to reverse that contract for you, though. Still, giving your current boss less than a week's notice might not be the best decision. Is there any way to arrange a later start date with the new position?

There was candidate we reallyyyy liked. She had multiple offers and turned us down. The next day she had a change of heart and told us she thought about it more after awhile. We were more than happy to have her on board. From a TA Standpoint we were not looking at her weird for how she went about it, we were just so happy she came on board. Try to help reach out to your network to see if you can help replace your job and let them know you’re trying to help. I think they’d appreciate that. Also, I gave about a week’s notice to my last job. The new job needed me ASAP. (They paid me more than double so it was a plus. I explained to my old boss their need to start ASAP and she was super understanding.

I’ve worked in clinical research in the academic/non profit world for the past five years. I want to transition to a role in pharma or a CRO, but haven’t been successful yet because I don’t have industry experience. Does anyone know of any CROs/pharma companies that are willing to hire someone with research expertise from an academic medical center rather than already in industry? Thanks!

I’m sick with stress. Literally - physically ill every day. I’m severely depressed and anxious, and have been on medication for years. I recently began a new one. I took a short leave at the beginning of this year (one week) and it wasn’t enough. I thought it would be. I feel like I’m letting everyone down. I have an appointment with my GP on Friday to discuss the next best steps for me and treatment, but I also want to figure out how to approach this with my work.

I currently work on a co branded health care partnership product. This requires me to review all partner marketing materials with legal and compliance for feedback. I have a new leader and my leader thinks I should know everything about the marketing asset before I review it during the daily legal and compliance session. There are about 10 assets that come my way weekly and it is hard for me to have the full background of the asset & the channel in detail. Do you think this is a fair ask?
