Hello! I’m currently negotiating a salary increase as part of my promotion from Recruiting Operations Coordinator (making 50k in the Portland metro area), and I want to make sure I’m making a reasonable ask. They want to give me 57k, which feels low. I have 2 years of prior full cycle recruiting experience, and a year of recruiting coordination experience. I’m planning to ask for 60k - is this reasonable? High? Low? Thank you!

A fellow associate asked me for advice about how to deal with bullying from a Senior Female lawyer (I'm a male associate). Like many firms, there aren't many of us in the firm, this is the 3rd time I've heard senior women bully younger associates, and it's usually not mentioned because seniors are "top billers" and traditionally promoted. Does anyone else have similar experiences? What should I tell my friend?

Anyone else have to deal with a rude legal assistant? Been working with a legal assistant for over a year, and to say she’s rude and difficult is an understatement. She’s quick to tell me if she can’t do an assigned task,my files are a disorganized mess, and she sends snarky email responses. I talked to the managing partner who agrees her behavior is problematic. He’s suggested the three of us schedule a meeting to discuss, but that feels too formal. I’d rather ask for a reassignment. Help!

Other than losing out on the bonus, what else happens if you don’t meet your billable target for a year)? A number of associates at my firm miss their target and it doesn’t appear to be an issue.

First-year at a big law firm and I feel like i’m getting passed on good work opportunities that end up going to other first year associates. Is this the norm? I reach out for work but other non-minorities end up with the work. What do I do?
