Find something you enjoy. Not a hobby, per say, but tasks that you prefer doing over others. Then, identify a value-driven role around that and sell it. Goal: be the creator of your own role.
I did a few months ago and started looking for my next career. I took 3 months to figure out what what I enjoy doing the most, what my strengths and weaknesses are during normal and stressful work situations and what environments I thrive in. Additionally, I read a lot about industries I haven’t worked in, understood what’s new in each and what interesting startups are doing in the space. Also utilized the time for self care and hobby. Now, I am doing targeted interviews to pick any industry and company that excites me and will give the learning and challenges I’m looking for.
It is normal to feel the way you are feeling. In consulting, we sacrifice a lot personally to get the growth and exposure offered in this intense job. The day you feel your sacrifices surpass learning, you should make change happen.
There’s a podcast I started listening to called Pivot that I think has some tools/methods for things like this. Just starting out on the same journey myself. Good luck 🍀
