Have you ever had a situation when your doctor is on vacation or out of office and won’t send a prescription to your pharmacy for insulin? But you’re running out? Not due to financial hardship.

Can’t you just purchase over the counter from the pharmacist?

^ so I have a prescription for humalog but not covered with new jobs insurance. Rite aid said it was gonna cost 1200 for 4 vials out of pocket. With goodrx it might be closer to 100-200 a vial. Just asking about to see how people have dealt with similar issues.

Can you not do a Teladoc visit to get a new prescription?

How much do you have left? Drs generally want to see you periodically to assess your health and make sure nothing has changed. I think it’s not ethical to continually refill prescriptions without seeing a patient.

Nah for insulin typically they’ll just auto refill endlessly in my experience. It’s a liability thing that is common for most critical medications since if you stop taking it you die pretty quickly. Older insulins are actually over the counter specifically so people who don’t have insurance or a doctor’s order can still get medication.

My pharmacy will usually give me a week’s worth if I can’t get a renewal (for bp meds - not sure about insulin)

Don’t really have a solution for you, but definitely don’t ration your insulin and risk DKA. If you actually run out, go to an urgent clinic or emergency room and they should be able to help. As an absolute last resort, you can buy human insulin over the counter at Walmart for $25 a vial. It’s very different than humalog in how it impacts blood sugar though so you should be really careful as it’s easy to fuck the dosage up and become severely hypoglycemic and pass out. Source: Used to to take insulin for T2.

Why can’t you go to urgent care and have that dr prescribe it for you?

like

Every doctor I've ever gone to has had a nurse who handles prescriptions, so you could call anytime and someone would be able to send a prescription for you. Alternatively you can use a telehealth service or urgent care, and they should be able to write a prescription (though you'll have to pay for that additional appointment, so would only do this if none of your existing doctors can do it).

I had multiple mediations recently. I do management side employment law. Overall I’m walking away feeling like what the heck are we paying the mediators for? I’m tired of the mediators saying they don’t want to hear about the merits of the case. The merits are DIRECTLY tied to the amount of settlement authority I have. I feel like our clients are getting worked way more than the plaintiffs side. Also plaintiffs have followed up every single settlement with “can we get the funds before holiday?”

Hello all! Changing from Vacation and Sick Time to just plain PTO starting in Jan. Staff can save up to 40hrs of their accrued Sick Time banks to use in 2022 in addition to their new PTO. We have a part-time employee with more than 40 sick hours who will try to use as much of their Sick Time as they can before Jan 1. If this person has an avg weekly schedule of 17.5 hrs, can we stop them using sick time if their sick + work time will take them over their 17.5 scheduled hours? Thanks!!

So apparently EY believes that moving to unlimited PTO will provide a first mover/differentiator advantage amongst the big 4.. I’d advise Deloitte, PWC, and KPMG folks to let EY stand alone on this one! None of us asked for this and they are doing it primarily to reduce PTO accrual liability for layoffs/in states where employers are limited in taking away earned PTO

Hi there! I need some guidance. HR and global leadership rolled out some amazing new initiatives like not starting until 10 am on Mondays, no meeting Fridays and required 2 additional summer days a month. The problem is, my boss refuses to comply with the initiatives. He constantly scheduled meetings before 8 am on Mondays and after 7 pm on Fridays. He also doesn’t let me take time off. Should I go to HR? I’m really not one to complain but I’m tired and extremely burnt out. Thanks for your help!
