Do Not Sign Anything! Gather all documentation and consult a lawyer. They'll quickly tell you whether you have a case, and whether it makes sense to continue communicating with your company. Most legit lawyers will consult without a charge... just make sure you have a quick version of what happened along with a catalog of your documentation to make the best use of everyone's time. Thanks! I have one reviewing it and even if they won't take the case, I don't plan on signing. There's just no benefit on my end.

I have dealt with this and was able to renegotiate for more money than offered. I drafted a letter explaining what they were doing was illegal, the reasons why I would be affected, and that if they did not settle, I would be taking the next legal action necessary. Most companies don't want a lawsuit or bad press so they'll settle in house.

It definitely worked out in my favor. I negotiated for $40,000 more than they wanted and told them to change the termination lingo so I could collect unemployment and never disclose in interviews.

I haven't had this experience but I would email back that you intend to file a claim under the bias of x,y,z. (Don't give details just the concepts and hopefully you have the information. You have no intention of signing the agreement unless x happens. Be prepared you may have to file.

Yep, told them it was an EEOC violation multiple times, and gave then a chance to rectify before they presented the severance agreement. I guess I should have said I could sign, but I won't unless they want to negotiate.

Consultant with an attorney on what options you have first before any decisions.

Disability discrimination. Refusal to honor agreed upon reasonable accommodations.

Without consideration (money), do not sign! I am always amazed at how many people are willing to sign paperwork when leaving a job without zero consideration.

I was honestly surprised they would think someone would sign that with no benefit. They said they would allow me to file unemployment, that's the benefit, but I don't qualify because I work part-time on the side.

If they ended your employment, why would you sign anything at all?

Do not sign. Ask for a copy of your file. Get a lawyer who specializes in disabilities. They are required to offer you reasonable accommodations in California. I don’t know the law in other states and this cannot be legal advice, but you need legal advice
