It felt great to have my work published in a major academic journal! It was a great opportunity to share my research with others in the field and get feedback from experts.

I haven't published a paper in a major academic journal, but I have had papers published in conference proceedings. It feels great to have my work recognized by my peers and to contribute to the body of knowledge in my field.

It went smoothly for me and felt great. I got invited to give oral talks at a few conferences as well which was exciting.

I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

Had I stayed, I would have been festering on comp and constantly worried about my financial future.
Since I've left, I feel financially secure but listless and bored with a lame team on what I've discovered is a skeezy upsell.

Anyone else had to deal with this? Did you boomerang back?

I have been in the pharma industry for 2 years and I have 2.5 years of undergrad research in microfluidics and nanofabrication for cancer cell identification. I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?
