Have you ever run into a situation where you asked for more money (either a raise or when negotiating an offer) and you got it and regretted it? What are the strings attached to more $?

I mean, taxes I suppose… especially if it puts you into the next tax bracket. Also if you’re now over the threshold of not qualifying for a Roth IRA but even if both of those things are true, still more money no matter how you look at it.

It also depends on which country you are in. For eg. in Australia, if you make more that $150k per annum, you do not get childcare. So if you end up making $151k, that $1k is going to cost you a fortune as you now have to pay for child care, tuition fees etc.

I definitely feel the guilt despite it being a multi-billion dollar company. Stockholm syndrome?

A promo usually comes with more money, but you usually have to work more. I think it's most prominent when transitioning to management roles

almost did! they were EXTREMELY aggressive about, offering to triple my salary, help out with immigration (American in Europe so needed sponsorship) - the whole shebang. Honestly, I just had a gut feeling about the whole thing and I just kept thinking, "if they're paying me triple, they expect me to work triple" - I just got a really bad vibe and I ended up saying no at the last minute. A lot of the team ended up quitting in the next few months so I guess it worked out...but sometimes I do think "what if" when I look at my bank account haha

For Accenture tech consulting, how typical is it to go from analyst to senior analyst after one year? What's the usual timeline for promotion and chargeability?

I've been speaking with many small CPA firm owners with a similar refrain. Here's one: small (under 10 employees) practice in peaceful NC town needs a Tax Manager. Great place to raise a family.

For those who have left one firm and moved to another, was yours a lateral or promotion at the new firm?

I’m in audit looking to be promoted to senior in July. Wondering if there’s any reason to stay at my firm for that promotion if my goal is to get away from auditing. Thinking I might end up in advisory or even pivot farther away from accounting in general. Does having that senior title on my resume matter?

Just got the biggest promotion yet after a really crazy year. However, ever since the news, I feel weaker mentally. Also realized I have a huge mental fog. Anyone experience the same? How to tackle?

Hi Friends, I need urgent help. Suppose in experience letter my designation is test specialist but in candidate form of EY I gave senior test specialist. Will it be problem? Actually after getting promotion I thought I became senior test specialist so gave senior test specialist in EY form. As next band is for senior people and I wrote as senior test specialist. But later I saw it was test specialist designation in my current company. Will that create problem in verification?

Hello Fishes, I have joined Deloitte as a Advisory Analyst in Accounting and Internal Controls on July, 2021. When can I expect the promotion to Associate Solution advisor and how much can I expect the hike?

Hi fishes I'm being constantly denied opportunities to grow and being targeted by a female manager for a rating discussion which happened a year ago . She is literally dropping allegations over me in managers meets which are false and some how my coach is also with her. My current year performance is well, with highest quality yet I'm not being considered for promotion.I'm seriously trying to look out but not getting any calls, what options do I have, can I raise this to intigrity helpline ??

Can we talk about sabotage? It’s not talked about enough yet it happens often in our field. I’d love to hear other’s encounters. For context- by sabotage, I mean someone has purposefully acted in a way that hurts you in a career/promotion/etc sense. Also knowingly. Most importantly... how do you move on from it? How do you turn the negative into fuel ⛽️ to overcome and later on (down the line) become stronger...and maybe destroy them? Kidding to a slight degree

Switching team internally competing with external candidates. was asking a promotion for next grade midpoint but was ok to accept >=50% hike which i told hiring manager before the process start itself which he said will consider if I'm the one selected. Attended 5 rounds-- 1 coding, 2 technical, 1 managerial, 1 hr. Now after 2 months telling me I'm the selected one, but offering me just 20% hike and same grade Any chance for negotiations? Any tips or guidance are appreciated. please help
