Does anyone know what the starting salary would be for a just promoted senior accountant in A&A at MNP in Alberta, Canada (specifically Red Deer)?
I have been told I will receive an offer shortly and want to have some idea of what is a fair offer is, as my options are either take it or wait for internal promotion at my current company which should have occurred already. I have written CFE and passed it but still getting my hours for the designation. MNP
I took a large pay cut (think 30%) to switch careers and industries and have made it back and more within 4 years. I’m happier, more time with my family and have had consistent growth.
Bet on yourself.
Thank you so much for your insight! That was very brave of you to take a 30% cut!! I’m so glad that you are now happier and able to spend time with your family!
I took a cut to move from a cloud security role to a HR role. I think it was one of the best decisions of my life. I have a rekindled passion for work and on the fast track for promotion. Don’t leave just to leave. Make sure you’re truly planning out all pros and cons. I didn’t change companies so my change was easier to predict.
I hope it works out for you! Sometimes your experience from different professions translates well into new roles!
If you are not satisfied and desperate to move out then take a paycut.
If you feel the pthernis good for you then you will make up the difference in no time.
Only thing do calculate what affect will you have financially due to this loss in money. If it's manageable then go ahead.
Thank you for your insight!!!
4-5% cut in base pay is nothing especially when career switching. I’ve done this. You can make this up in 2 years with a 2.5% raise.
Sometimes a small cut to base pay at a new job makes up for it in other areas like more paid time off, annual bonus, higher 401k matching, and better medical insurance putting more money back in your pocket.
Thank you so much!! This makes me feel much better :)
