Worked on Purdue Pharma a few years ago, still regret it
Never regrets, always lessons learned.
Yep! Usually it’s me taking on too much and wishing I hadn’t.
Nope but I've turned down jobs where they refused to tell me the client I would be on since I'm far pickier than most people about what products I'm willing to help sell. I've also been upfront about what I will and won't work on and have been turned down by companies for not being more flexible, which is totally fair.
It's good to think about what your limits are
Lloyd Dobler : I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed.
Pitched for two drugs to do their European comms. We won, and the pitch was an order of magnitude greater than any we'd won in the past. Estatic, game changer, well worth the hundreds of hours we sunk into the creative and strategy.
But then the company got some heavy HIPAA fines. The European work fell through. It broke the agency, which had been on a massive winning streak up to that point. We got subsumed into the wider company within 12 months.
Learned a lot from that, good and bad.
I can't remember a time when I did. I am pretty strict about boundaries. I've had projects I didn't love but nothing I regretted.
Never do the agency Christmas card. Ever. Avoid it at all costs. I can't stress this enough.
