Not sure how helpful this is to you, but here are some things that have helped me:
-prepare and show an agenda at the beginning
-practice what you plan to say, literally type/write it out and get as familiar as you can with your key points. If you have time and can find someone to practice with (to test out how it sounds and even get feedback), that’s even better
-if slides or materials will be used, make sure you know where the content is in case you have to jump around
-don’t be afraid to honestly say you don’t know the answer to something, but do say you’ll find out the answer (if you can) and do get back to them with that answer
-know that so many people in the field have imposter syndrome and “fake it til you make it” is real - you’re not alone
Everyone does at the beginning :) it’s one of those things the more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll get! It’s expected as a new analyst, discussions won’t be perfect and nerves are a factor. Practice and over prepare yourself for those discussions and that’ll help. If an internal leader is in the discussion, it never hurts to get feedback after so you can keep improving.
Be prepared with speaking notes and check your physical comfort. Practice if needed. I find making sure my feet are firmly on the ground helps a lot
you all are awesome. thank you so much!!
No, Op. YOU are awesome! Best wishes.
Get really good with speaking off the cuff. Where people get stumped is they spend too much time preparing for the meeting if things take a left turn it’s tough.
Just a little update - I KILLED my first ever presentation with a client! Thank you all for the feedback 😁😁
I’m my head, I tell myself that I’m talking about the topics with a friend
I just don’t give a shit half the time and it makes things a lot less of a burden. Things aren’t that important, work will continue to revolve, and everything will be alright
Just don’t care that much
