This new Covid strain will make modern Brits understand what the Battle of Waterloo felt like, for the French.
Any advice on property investing during covid? I want to buy a small single family home and rent it out but in these circumstances I'm scared if I'll get tenants or not.
One more reason the "if you're vaccinated and they work, why do you care if I am not?" is just dumb https://www.texastribune.org/2021/08/09/texas-hospitals-elective-procedures-covid-greg-abbott/

Anyonr with non-COVID deferral stories or experiences? What worked or didn't? Context: I am fortunate to have R1 acceptances with $ but would like to defer to get more time in my new job that I like and have a promo trajectory (started in Q1 21) + lower income due to sector switch (increasing need based aid at GSB/HBS if I am luckily accepted next year?)
PSA: TIPS TO GET YOUR COVID VACCINE IN NYC Your best bet to getting a vaccine in NYC is CVS. Why? Because you can select your time first, and CVS will give you 30 min to fill out the form after vs the other NYC sites. If you refresh the availability exactly when it drops at 12 am, you have a better chance. Tips and details in the comments below. If you are an Anti-Vaxxer - please move along...this is not the post to debate about it.
Just witnessed a mess on flight with flight attendants escalating a 2.5 year old not wearing a mask. We need to drop mask mandates for kids. It’s completely impractical and causing chaos for travelers and flight attendants. Europe is age 5 and that seems way more reasonable.
Just got laid off in pdx. Coronavirus killed q2 after a weak q1. If anyone knows of anything for a Sr agency/line producer, please share
My landlord just raised my rent by 12% (20% from my covid deal "net effective"). It's not a rent stabilized building so no options there. I love, love my apartment. But the expense feels like a lot. (It will be 45% of my working budget - meaning after tax, 401k, ESPP, etc.) Any advice on negotiating? (Im unfortunately in nyu zone so this building has lots of turnover with apts funded by mom and dad).
Keep having recruiters call me offering hybrid roles where the role is remote “till Covid ends” A lot of them are for tech company’s based in the Bay Area or Austin Texas. I don’t want to move to either of those locations, but is anyone else in this situation and thinking of singing contracts but blatantly not moving “when Covid ends” and getting fired over it if it comes to it (getting so many recruiters right now.. lol idc if I get fired)
Hi Joel, in 2009 following the economic downturn, JetBlue ran the “All You Can Jet” promotion to stimulate travel. Do you plan to bring back this deal in light of the coronavirus? Please do!
Is this a bad time to transition into a new job? There are open opportunities but is it too risky? Anyone here transitioned during COVID or planning to? Please share your thoughts!
How much do you spend on groceries per month and for how many people? Since COVID it’s been around $500 for just me 😬
Ladies who’ve moved to a new city without knowing people there - how did you find your new core friend group (pre covid)? I’m looking to re-locate at the end of the year but so scared to leave my social comfort zone behind.
I’m feeling anxiety about Coronavirus. Does anyone else think that the virus is being used by the government for population control? I don’t know if I’m paranoid.
135k fans at the Indy 500 with no masks today. The PGA championship was full capacity with no masks as well. Both events looked like a replay from pre covid times. Even the stars of the show didn’t really follow covid protocols for optics. Is this a false sense of hope or is covid over in the majority of American’s minds?

Millionaires receive $1.7m in coronavirus relief as most taxpayers get $1,200 checks thanks to hidden Republican loophole.
I want to do my first skydive tomorrow since it's on sale here and I thought of a great covid related insta caption. Hardest part is convincing my family. Told them it's safer than driving a car. Any other ideas?

I’m from a low-income family, the only one who went to college) and already make more @25 (140k) than my blue-collar parents ever did in their life. There is clear resentment, judgment, jealousy from family regards to my life/ income to where I stopped sharing vacation plans/ posting about my adventures. Has anyone else been in this position? How do you manage it?
Tell me your car and I’ll tell you your salary.
Tax season, and I just noticed I have a household income of $700K. Guess how much we've saved? $0!!! $300K goes to tax - thanks to CA $60K goes to housing mortage, HOA, and tax $15K goes to travel & vacation $10K goes to BTS... Where did the rest of money go? NO IDEA... Looks like just dining and grocery stuff. I don't have even have kids, didn't buy any luxury brands last year.
With inflation, is 200k savings by 25 even above standard anymore for white collar professionals in careers like consulting/SWE/banking?
How do you give feedback to someone who is actually killing it? Just, say keep up what you’re doing?
I did not grow up in the US but live in a second tier city in the Midwest now. We are sending our daughter to a private elementary school now for ~$20k a year. Is it worth it vs. good public schools? In terms of academic outcome and emotional well being for the child. Anyone with personal experience?
Calling a woman “ma’am” is a sign of respect in many countries and in southern parts of the US. Why is it so offensive to women in the north east? I’m a woman, I’m new to the US so I’m just trying to understand.

McKinsey response to nyt story!!!
I get super bored consistently at the 2 year mark with a company. definitely have jumped ship every 2-3 years for past 15 years. sometimes to new industries or completely different problem sets. i know this looks bad and makes it difficult for me to get past the director level. how to combat this?
Do people seriously get paid this much?
