Quick qstn - I'm receiving HRA of 24075 from my employer but I would like dhow the rent paid as 96k p.a (while filing ITR). Even if I do so, I was only able to get exemption of 24075 from gross. Checking if we can speak to payroll department to increase Actual HRA since I'm actually paying more rent than compared. Will I be able to do so ?Deloitte Newco EY Accenture Genpact KPMG

Yes but I've only seen it when they have strong sponsorship from MDs that help them make the move
So was it the MD’s doing or the analyst taking the initiative (with the MD’s support)? I am looking to move on the sooner side and have established a connection over the past few months with the partner of the group I would like to move into, but I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot at the same time...
It really depends. I think it really comes down to your current MD/partner and your new MD/partner. If your current MD likes you and respects you, then you (with the help of the partner of the other team) can brand it as a better fit for you.
Why not wait for the 18 months while continuing to build the connection?
Great question - the simple answer is that I am not intellectually stimulated by what I do and I have much larger aspirations than what I see senior people on my team doing. I am working my ass off to impress my managers and have been learning a ton of technical things, but the group I am in is very siloed and will not help me much in future jobs. Given that I already know that I do not want my career to be in it, I feel that I am wasting my time and energy when I would rather be in a group where I do think I’ll learn more applicable things and enjoy.
That's fair. If you're still an analyst I wouldn't stress about it and wait the 18 months out. Time goes by really fast and you can use this time to upskill yourself on anything technical you may need in the other team or study for CFA or something. Sometimes the internal move takes so long that by the time they do everything you're 18 months in
You bring up some good points. I’m studying for the gmat now as a safety net in case things don’t fall in place. Once I finish that up, I’ll start focusing my energy on skills that would be useful to have in a new role. Thanks for talking it through with me
No problem. Good luck!
