Have you switched jobs and realize the new company sucks? What do you do? Do you try to get a new job right away or you try to stay until you are over it?

Haha .. I did this last year. I tried to stick it out. I thought maybe I was the problem and tried to "calm down", give them a fair chance, but after 3 months I started making excuses, taking PTO (it was unlimited), took advantage of my health issues and used that as an excuse to not be available. By month 5, I left. I couldn't take it anymore of the team's dynamic, the role, the work.

I'm at a new company now, and I'm much happier.

Ahhh that is so good to read. Sometimes we don’t have time to go back and reflect on things that happen in our life! Jeeeeez

Congrats on landing a good job that makes you be at peace and happy.

Thanks for your advice, for cheering me on and for sharing your journey with me. 🥰 I will definitely put myself first and look for another job that makes me feel happy!

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time

If I prefer coding should I keep going down the data analytics road or not so much? I am currently an "analyst" for an extremely small business with not a ton of data to sift through + I have done a tiny bit of coding for their website. I like it well enough but doing more coding and figuring out how things work out behind the scenes seems like it would be fun. Which do you recommend? Thank you!

Hello All, my joining date needs to be extended by 5 days in JPMC and HR said in call that no revised offer letter based on new joining date will be issued and new joining date confirmation will be somewhat communicated prior to 3 days of onboarding.
However he mentioned he will reply back with a confirmation email on top of the email which I have sent requesting for revised joining date.
Do you see any risk of offer cancellation/revocation here?

How do you go about building trust with your partner?

I’m in a fairly new relationship (few months) and it’s long distance. Both of us have trust issues, and we are trying to find way to build that trust between us. We want to do it without having to constantly prove ourselves, as we feel that undermines much of the trust.

Any suggestions how you built trust w your partner? I’m aware that much of it comes from within, or personal insecurities, which I’m trying to figure out how to address too

Hi all, I want to create a github portfolio to showcase my technical skillset to prospective employers. However I'm aware that deloitte (just like other companies) has confidentiality/IP issues around client work. How can I showcase my work/ technical skillset using code from my work without breaking any confidentiality? Almost all of the data science/data engineering work I've done is for clients. If anyone has figured a way around this, I'd appreciate any insights that you can share.

Hey gang, lately I have been thinking if I got underpaid. Graduated from master school right after 2020 pandemic and started by 68K as UXD in digital sales company based in NYC. With 2 YOE the salary went up by 3% and 5% average promotion. Now it comes up to 75K w/ 6K bonus. What do you think of this? My manager honestly told me I was underpaid during 1-1 but since he was newly hired not long ago, he told me he has no solution at the moment. Thinking of starting a new position...

I feel like I am not getting clear guidance or leadership from my design manager or my PM. I have been creating project initiatives, frameworks and discussion guides but there is no one really assisting me in creating them or stepping up to make decisions on the best path forward.
