Have you tried the baby carrier minimeis? The one where you carry the kid on your shoulders? Any thoughts?

Are they stalking you in instagram too?? Lol

Lol yes!!! They’re so good with their stalking!

Thanks so much for all the feedback on this. I just ordered one for my son.

Yes! We loved it! We definitely stopped using it once he got more than 25 lbs or so, but was great for walking around in crowds (pre—Covid) or when we took the metro (In DC). I have a smaller chest, so didn’t bother me, but could see how it would be uncomfortable for those with large chests. And my son loved it

I think practically, it probably does work at higher weights, we just felt it wasn’t delivering the same value when he was capable of holding himself up for prolonged periods. Plus as a toddler he wants to get down or up more often which makes it less valuable

We have one and love it for travel and hiking! We just used it hiking in national parks with my 27 month old >30 lbs, though we just as often carried him on our shoulders without the carrier.

New parents - how are you balancing work and childcare demands? Please share your tricks!!! It’s been 14 months since our first child and still struggling. Been waking up 4am to get work done, but plans often get derailed with unforeseen circumstances with childcare needs. And not to mention burnout with long days of staying up, for childcare, home and work routines. Context - male here, M, working spouse, 14 month baby, started daycare for few months now, no immediate family support to help.

Good news and bad news: We are expecting our first child in the next 2mo. Sadly, we’ve also just lost a close family member. As a result, we’ve come into a little money and would like to put maybe $10-15K aside to start a college savings for baby. Does anyone have experience with this? What’s the best way to go about it? I’m not hugely familiar with this, but want to make sure I understand the fees and taxes that may be affiliated with different options. Would be grateful for any insight!

I only get 12 weeks of mat leave per FMLA, but I want to ask my employee for 16. I don’t even care if it’s paid (it won’t be sadly). Should I ask for that as soon as I tell them I’m pregnant, or think I should wait until I’m actually on leave and then play the “I’m not ready to come back” card?

How did you find a doula? In a city that I’m not connected to new moms. Peanut users all seem to be non responsive. First time being pregnant..

I feel trapped. We work hard, break glass ceilings, put in all the blood, sweat and tears needed to "make it". Usually twice as fast, with a babe on a hip - cooking, running a call. I'm over 50, solo and a parent & over the rat race. I've been putting out feelers and feeling the over 50 burn. I don't need to lead the world - a small piece would be nice, ok money. Fun people, easy roll, smart work, build smart people - cool teams. I get "you'll be bored here - we can't afford you". What2do?

I’m 36, earn 100k and I work maybe 30 hours a week, and I’m a shining star. It allows me to enjoy life without stress. I can linger around and see myself (slowly) climbing the ladder. But part of me wants to put in hard work and grow a lot in my career and earn more for a stable financial future, but it means I’ve got to work more and stress more and I’m worried I won’t get time to relax and enjoy my life as before. But also I’m worried I’ll slack off. Anyone going through this? Would I regret?
