Any Houdini artists here?
We are slowly finding ways to be less reliant on Maya and explore more into Houdini for everything except character animation. We are exploring how Blender can fit into the pipline too.
Has any of you moved from Maya centric pipeline to Houdini centric, how has your experience been?

Yes, we all are. (A year is actually not even close to the worst.) Basically making anything these days feels lucky. Making something you really like--I dont know too many people doing that at all, and Ive been around a long time.
Pretty soon I think someones going to start just putting idea pages from decks in their book. Because thats all most people work on anymore, so pretty soon agencies will just want to see you can do that, since thats the job.
Its horrible. Good luck.
You could get a couple side projects in in a short time. People want to see quality. Who cares if it never ran or was a favor or a $500 job. Just find some interesting problems and solve them. It could make the day job more interesting too. Or at least less oppressive.

The problem is probably two agencies in one year.
It can take time to get to good work when you first start. You need to learn how to work with the cds, accounts, clients, etc. Give it some time. You'll be alright.
