Was anyone thinking of quitting before COVID-19 happened?

absolute initial steps with a nanny/sitter ? Do you have them sign a contract ? Include COVID language ? Set boundaries ? Since I’m working from home, my nannies/babysitters have already demonstrated unsavory behavior such as talking to me while I’m trying to work, having my kid watch TV, letting me know that they are entitled to a 2 week notice on the first day of a temp job, and indicating they are at poverty level and really need the job, and bad body odor. I also feel guilty for firing too.

My school district started back the second week of July. We are teaching in class. By the end of the first week, there were students going home sick. This was happening with all our school sites in the district. Numbers are going up everyday. I was told our student population needs to hit 15% of positive COVID cases before they will go back to distant learning. What is your district‘a policy?

If you were allowed to remote work from anywhere right now where would you move in the US?

How much is your rent? I make about 120k per year and live with my parents since covid started. Hoping to move out but NYC is super expensive. Need a baseline, no financial support from parents (low income) so have been saving in hopes of buying.

Folks, why is this Boston Bowl so quiet (relatively speaking)? Is our community so small that we think there’s no anonymity to our posts? Are we so busy juggling (with Covid making it worse) that there’s no time for this? Or are we blissfully happy so not much to question or comment on? Opinions wanted. Husband and I booked our upcoming honeymoon before COVID. All travel within the U.S., short 4hr flight. We take COVID seriously day to day and wear masks/social distance/etc, but we’re split on whether to go or not. I think if we get an AirBnB that has a kitchen/living space, we can do takeout. And if we keep to outdoor activities (e.g. walking tours), we’ll be respectful of others in the new city/we won’t put ourselves at great risk. But my husband wants to cancel. Thoughts?

I haven’t seen my partner in over a year due to covid and I know his family is going to want to do a family trip once restrictions are lifted to go visit him overseas. (He is in the army stationed in South Korea). Would it be wrong of me if I said I wanted to go alone and be with him by myself? I feel like that may make me look a tad bratty but I don’t want to spend time with his family all fighting for his attention.

Anyone else feel like Covid life in the last two years has made them more introverted? I used to enjoy work/networking events, going out, and seeing a lot of people. Now I’m totally fine with small group gatherings, weekends hanging with my partner, and alone time fun. Can’t tell if I want to go back to precovid style or just keep it real like this..

Baby sitting friend’s 5 year old and today she has 99 fever. She is going to see a friend on Saturday and told me she will get a COVID test before that. In her words, ‘I am going to get tested because if I have COVID I can pass it to my friend and the friend will meet so many people and she can pass into them and then all those people will meet other people and spread to them and then COVID will spread everywhere.’ I don’t know where little lady learnt it from but this was impressive.

My District decided to initiate a “no zero policy” starting now. I was informed by administration that when a student does not turn in their work, I still have to give the student a fifty percent even though that student didn’t earn it. I teach sixth graders and I am not sure how I feel about this. Any words of advice?
