I just got an email from a recruiter from Google!

He said that the position is in the Bay Area or New York. I haven’t replied the email. I don’t think we can move to those cities, but I don’t want to lose this opportunity. Does anyone know if Google does remote jobs within US?

Is the other company allowing remote work? I wouldn’t dangle the offer since that may be a turnoff, but say that “I’ve noticed that other similar companies are offering fully remote roles. Is that a possibility here?”
Yes...the rationale is apparently that there are some trainings and projects coming up that are on campus but there is no reason they can’t be done remotely either.
I have no advice but came here to say my company is doing the same thing! It is absurd -- I'm in state X and the rest of the entire team is in states Y and Z. They literally want me to go into an office to sit and have Zoom meetings. Nutty.
You could also ask if the company could fly you out and put you up in a hotel for the training if it’s really important to them. My husband’s job is fully remote but they flew him out to meet the rest of the team.
