Having a crush on full time employee as an intern? Thoughts?

Okay to silently crush but stick to professional boundaries.

Since the same post is in the women in advertising bowl I'm making an assumption you are a woman. Honestly during my time at a TBWA agency a young female intern was so obviously crushing on a creative director that it really annoyed many permanent full time agency employees. It comes across as desperate. Crush your internship and show them what you are made of. Don't blur the lines and come off unprofessional. If you can connect with your crush post internship and it goes somewhere GREAT!

Awww thanks. Been at many agencies and seen it all back when I first joined the industry. I recall one Male intern hooking up with a female account manager on the VP's desk at an out of control party. A basic "please refrain from shagging interns on my desk" request made it on the staff meeting agenda that following Monday. The account executive never lived it down and the intern never returned.

funny

Sounds great. 😉 I’ve had those. Nothing like making your mornings rush by as you get up early with no effort in eager anticipation of seeing them. 😍 Don’t ruin your chances of getting a job there though if you want one.

No. Let the tension stay. The office crush effect will happen in every place that you workfor your entire career. Get used to it. There’s so much potential risk of bad things if you follow through.

I also found that “office hot” tends to be a few steps down from “real world hot.”

Another thing to consider is the role and level of your crush. If it’s someone junior you should be fine, but if it’s a director level person or someone you could potentially report to, it’s going to be considered inappropriate because that’s a more complicated dynamic.

like

Also, once it goes south (there’s always a shelf-life) if you’re their junior - you’re out. Game. Over.

Current S1 here. Is it okay if my resume experience is just: B4 Internship > Associate > Senior? (All in the same firm/practice) Never done other internships. The only other thing I could include is a student assistant job I had in college. Not sure if that's even relevant. Guess just the progression at this 1 firm is enough? Just looks a bit incomplete on the resume.

Perpetually an intern... working at the same company for 1.5+ years and easily doing the work of a junior creative, & taking the heat off my CDs daily; sometimes I’m the only AD on big jobs. I’m not making a livable wage & I’ve undercut my soul, free time, and financial stability with no end in sight. My teammates always really appreciate my hustle and insights. It makes me wonder what else I could possibly do. Put on more make up? Start poppin adderal? I’m joking... but what would you do?

How do you handle attraction in the work place. During my summer internship I was really attracted to this girl I shared a office with. She was way out of my league so I didn't even attempt to ask her out or anything. Plus you don't hookup where you vlookup. During one of the days she wore a really short skirt and I got a bit aroused. Since my housing was really close, during lunch I went home and fixed the issue. How do you handle being aroused at work?

Not sure if anyone else deals with this, but I feel so inferior compared to my friends at medical school or those who went to Ivy post grads. I went straight to Accenture right after college and while I’m so grateful for having a good job, I just feel like I haven’t done enough and will never realize certain financial goals at the rate I’m going.
