Having a project debrief soon with the engagement manager, what should I expect and how can I prepare for it?

Been practicing a year now. Of 6 attorneys, 4 will be retiring soon, and I was brought in to hopefully take over. I am troubled: first that my partners largely provide me with no guidance. They handed me a client with a large quantity of fairly straightforward casework and have been hands off since. There also hasn’t been any talk of a raise/performance review. How should I ask for guidance/mentor ship? How do I ask for a raise, or should I presume one is coming?

Asked a senior to help write up an analysis for a specific query. Guided them on what to consider. They wrote. one. scentence... and considered it job done. What do I eveeeeeeen say. (I just added a comment -plz expand.. am I partner now)

I am looking for some direction on how to approach a conversation with my manager who prefers processes that are unnecessarily time consuming . She seems to be disinterested when I offer a suggestion on a more proficient way to do something even when she sees that very clearly it is a far easier process producing the same end result. One of the most frustrating things is having the partner “de-prioritize” your deal. They stop responding to questions, take forever to review things you’ve sent them and act annoyed when you try to follow-up. Does anyone else experience this?

Client issue - I’m on one of my client’s supervisor’s “bad list.” Our firm requires updates every 60-90 days. Rarely miss sending reports on time, but some of the clients request updates every 20-30 days. I try to respond timely, but don’t always, often will just send a reply saying I will have this for you within 1 week or ASAP. Since October, one of the supervisors for this company will periodically email the head of our department (not cc’ing me) and say they are missing reports. (Cont.)

There’s a lot of non-legal stuff that goes into case management and client relationships that we won’t ever learn unless we’re taught. And sometimes it’s so far outside the scope of our knowledge that we don’t realize we’re asking the wrong questions.

Hi. I am desperate to change jobs. I have two offer in hands: Deloitte Hyderbad on a contract basis with 15% hike and KPMG Bangalore FTE with 25% hike. I like Deloitte as a brand better.
