Having a rough week. Can’t seem to do anything right. I’m determined to turn this week around so I’d love it if you ladies could post some motivational quotes/mantras that help you get through rough days/weeks at work.

Breathe. Get calm. Now pick 3 things to do next; one that you’ve been dreading (getting those done really feels good!), one that is urgent, and one that will make you smile. Then do those and give yourself 10 minutes to appreciate your accomplishments. Then do it again. You’ll get through this and find your motivation again. Do the next right thing! (Yes, I have a 5yr at home).

That was awesome! Glad you found this helpful. We all have bad days/weeks. We’ll get through them. 🙂

This is an exercise I use.
Breathe.
Exhale first.

Release restlessness, doubt, frustration, busyness.

Inhale stillness, solace, peace, comfort in knowing you have been prepared for this very moment.

Be still.
Repeat.

"I am worthy of being well. I honor my need to be well for myself. I receive this moment to focus on my wellness."

Repeat.
Repeat.

Then I play "Happy Face" by Destiny's Child.
INSTANT MOOD LIFTER.

A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.

I know that quote doesn’t work for everyone but I kept it on my computer for a year. And every time I wanted to bang my head against the computer in frustration I would see that quote and remember my goal is to be a bad ass attorney, so this is just part of the process to learn and be better.

Dumb quote but it’s been my absolute favorite for years now — “Be like a duck. Stay calm on the surface but paddle like hell underneath”

I’m with ya! I’ve been so unmotivated, slow, and making dumb typos left and right!!!! Not a motivational quote, but thought I would let you know you’re not alone

Not necessarily a quote but just remembering that we’re all imperfect, we don’t know everything, we’re always learning. I also try to talk to myself like I would a friend; I’m usually much nicer that way!

You got this!

My favorite phrase to get me through rough patches and remind me to appreciate good times: This Too Shall Pass. Hang in there, you’ll get through it, learn from the experience, and be better on the other side!

I am feeling the exact same way - sometimes it’s nice knowing you’re not the only one. Hang in there!!

Here’s a good one, especially because we only have to get thru the next 12 hour work day. TGIF!

Two of my favorites...

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

It's not failure, it's feedback.

Perspective is everything. If you can try to see whatever you are dealing with in a different light, it might just open a new door. Don't let life happen to you, let it happen for you. We've all been here, do whatever you can to push forward and you'll be just fine.

Easy does it! and Feelings pass.

like

You aren’t perfect so don’t expect perfection
You do the best you can and that is enough
Rough times do get better if we change our outlook and look for hidden opportunities
That’s a few thoughts .... admitting a rough week takes a lot ... I’ve been beating myself up for the last few weeks/months and understand ... you are definitely not alone

“Don’t let the bastards get you down!”

Are you living my life OP?! Thanks for thinking to ask here because I’m determined to turn it around too.

Not a mantra but I feel like this 100% of the time. I’m just convinced we’re all way harder on ourselves than we should be. ITS OK TO HAVE A BAD WEEK.

My husband is that other kind of counselor. I mentioned this post to him. His suggestion is that it sounds like your friend has gotten into some kind of pattern that makes it easier for stress to build. He suggests finding an existential counselor who can help examine the situations to help find what is causing the pattern. Cognitive behavioral is unlikely to help this kind of situation because it works to find a way around the problem. Hope this helps.

We all deserve a medal for dealing with this year. Just be especially gentle with yourself, get enough sleep, take a bath, work out, read a book—self-care is important. Tomorrow is another day and we are all a work in progress. None of us are perfect.

I think I’m late to the chat but I hope you turned it around!

Enjoy your weekend! 💪🏼💖

Starting a new job at a big firm (Canada) on Monday and need a little wardrobe refresh (I say “need” because all my suits are nervous sweated out and I want to forget those early years.)

I’ve reviewed all the posts on the shoe debate and am hoping to narrow this down. Any ladies, who love high heels, regret their Louboutin purchase? Looking at 85mm but would probably be as comfortable as someone can be in 100mm.

My other shoes will be practical but I want a power shoe.
