Having morning sickness and one of the biggest pitch presentations is end of the week. No one knows I’m pregnant yet, far too soon. Tips?

Part time, certified clinical herbalist here! Ginger is the golden standard. Chop some up and add to a thermos with a bag of peppermint tea, a bag of chamomile, and a bag of raspberry leaf tea (a hormone regulator and amazing prenatal supplement)- Traditional Medicines makes all and can be found at Whole Foods. (I’d recommend tossing a few bags each into a pitcher and keeping it in your fridge. Toss in a squeeze of lemon to move your kidneys, liver, and lymph. I’d also grab a Milk Thistle tincture from an herb shop and take it regularly- it’s an excellent liver detoxifier which partially addresses the issues. Small quantities of Cod liver oil capsules with meals. Chewing on aromatic seeds like cumin and fennel and anise. Drink lots of room temperature water to keep that digestive system up and running. All of the above is safe for baby! Hope this helps. Be well and congratulations!

Ask your doctor for Zofran.

Try to throw up before. Eat a small amount of protein and bland carbs. Timing is everything. Good luck!

Saltines! Keep some food on your stomach at all times. It really helped with my morning sickness. If you’re not able to get a prescription (my doc gave out samples of Diclegis), the go-to hack is Unisom + B6, which are the active ingredients. I realize a sleeping med doesn’t sound like the greatest idea before a big presentation, but it was a lifesaver for me.

Hi Leo Burnett! Absolutely. Milk thistle is also a powerful galactagogue! (A milk encouraging herb). I'd also recommend looking into nettle tea- very mineral rich and will keep you and your joints/bones nice and healthy while breastfeeding, which can zap you of your own nutrients. Ask me all the herb questions y'all! Trying to help all of us survive this industry.

First off, how exciting and congratulations! Ask your doctor for Diclegis, I took the max dose for the first 25 weeks and it was the only thing that worked for me.

I found that ginger chews were the only thing that could stall the barfing (although the barf always won). But I basically tried everything and the only thing that worked was zofran and bagels. I feel you girl.

like

I kept cold watermelon and tons of water w lemon with me all the time and would eat it just before any presentations. I also found the more I was distracted the less sick I felt

No personal experience but had a close friend with terrible morning sickness and she swore by lemonade first thing in the morning (something about the tartness cut through the nausea) and something called preggy pop drops that you can get at the drugstore or amazon. Good luck!

Saltines and ginger and good luck!!!!

Fuck morning sickness so hard. 39 weeks and threw up an hour ago. Nothing ever really worked like magic for me, although coke on ice is a godsend and some minty gum is good in a pinch.

like

I found stress made my morning sickness way worse, so I would say manage the stress in the way that works best for you. Meditate, exercise, get lots of sleep, that kind of thing.

like

It's flu season, so you've got that cover going for you. If you can score zofran though, that stuff is legit.

like

Nauzene. Available at the grocery store, stops nausea within four minutes. Just discovered it recently and now I swear by it.

like

Just want to say preggy pops were super helpful to me. Also - dang Sr. Designer 1! Would you recommend that tinture for breastfeeding moms too? It sounds so good.

like

Milk thistle worked for me. I was feeding twins and needed all the help I could get. OP: the tried and true saltines and ginger ale combo worked for me. Good luck. We'll be with you in spirit.

like

Thank you Senior Designer, you are awesome! Going to buy some milk thistle ASAP.

Weddings! Those planning or just got done planning. How soon did you cry and say F it? It’s getting expensive. I don’t want to spend the money for just 1 day. I’m super happy going to the court house. But being my parents only child, I feel like I owe them a wedding. I’m tired of everyone having an opinion- location, date wise, how fast we’re doing it. I don’t know much longer I can take with all of this. I just want to be with my person, could careless about anything else.

Need advice: I have a young child who’s father has been mostly absent. Sadly, he passed last month and just found out he did have a life insurance policy with my child as the beneficiary. I was told that I can also claim his SS benefits for her as his only beneficiary until age 19. The question is what do I do with this money?? Can it be put into a UTMA account? I quite literally know nothing about these types of payouts and the rules associated with them.

I have a hard time getting along with my future mother in law. She likes to talk about money, judging people/me and I never heard her compliment others. I understand it maybe her culture and background make her that way. But every time after she visited us I am extremely unhappy. Should I have a second child? I met my husband later in life at 37 yo. We had our first when I was 39. I thought I was good with just one as I was never someone who really wanted kids but I know my husband would love to have another and now that I have one I think about her having a sibling. I’ll be 41 in March so we need to start now. I love the ease and flexibility of one child and she’s been such good baby. I’m worried that if we have another I’ll regret it. I’m also about to start a new job.

Do you have any recommendations for baby carriers - specifically for bigger babies? We have a baby bjorn, boba wrap, and ergobaby embrace, but it feels like they are getting small / tight for my big baby boy. For reference, he is already over 18lbs at 4mos. Would love something that would be comfy for him but also distributes weight well, as he will only get heavier 🤪 Thank you in advance!

I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.

18 weeks pregnant (1st time) and have always been an active/fit person workingout 5x/wk cardio/treadmill and some weight lifting. I've toned down my workout routine since I found out I'm preg as I got 2 v diff advice from the NP I first saw then the OB/GYN herself. NP warned of exercising as this should not be my priority now (which I agree) he warned from any running/or weight lift (were talking 40-70 lbs). Ob was so flexible about it and said I can maintain my routine as long as not exhausted.

I’m debating what the right thing to do is (protocol wise and for myself personally) I just received an offer for an internal role I applied for. I am also interviewing externally and today let them know I have an offer in hand. Both external roles I’m interviewing for are significantly higher in comp and title. Would it be bad form to accept the internal role when I know I may be accepting another role and leaving in less than 3 months? (Additional context in comments)
