Hi folks! I’m new to the industry, (recent undergraduate). I work as a data and analytics engineer for a tech consulting firm out of TX. I wanted to kindly ask if anyone has any recommendations on Tech conferences to attend for my field? (looking for in person in the next month or so) I have googled to death and the issue is most of these conferences are virtual, or out of the country due to COVID. I’m not staffed atm so I would like to use my time to learn more for work. Thanks in advance!
I realized during COVID I sorta developed a slight case of social anxiety. I freeze up every time I meet someone new and I can’t initiate. However, once I’ve met them, I’m fine with conversation. Any go to tips you use to initiate conversation?
Has anyone had costochondritis from COVID or in general before? I’m 5 days into my diagnosis and am still in a lot of pain.
If someone could take the time out of their day to give me feedback on my résumé and portfolio that’d be great. I graduated last year and still can’t find a job in my field. Everyone keeps blaming covid but I just feel like I’m the problem 🥲. And I’m at the point where I’m looking at my work for too long and everything looks awful. Help!
Please don’t underestimate Omicron—yet, fellow Americans. Mask up. Get booster. Fact: Unvaccinated people are 100 times more likely to die from COVID than those with three doses of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna).
Any advice for recent/upcoming grads wanting to break into the industry but not able to find opportunities due to COVID? Thanks!
I work in IT/Events, am the only female in my office, and the only member of staff who was not furloughed. Now everyone is back to work, and events are looking busier so is our team. but I am having to put my hand up a lot and say 'Hi remember me, remember what I was capable of and doing before covid hit!? I am bored of reminding my other colleagues and it's now becoming embarrassing how much I complain about being 'forgotten' about - I'm happy to say when I've been overlooked. but what else?
I’m a 30yo college grad who spent most of my 8 years in nyc in the food industry. It was comfortable and I liked it. But after being on unemployment during covid and making more than I ever had as a barista, I can’t go back to food. Seeing what that extra $600 a week did for my life and stress has changed me and I want to make that much money all the time. Does anyone else have experience transitioning from the food industry to an office job at an older age?
In 10 years, does anyone see it possible to work out of an office in a HCOL area , live/work remote in a MCOL/LCOL, and just commute in 3 hours for meetings once or twice a month ? Does anyone see firms ever pushing us to go back in anywhere as close to pre-Covid ?
Our district does not give sick days if a teacher has Covid so if a teacher tests positive, that teacher must use his or her own sick days. If a teacher gets Covid or tests positive, 10+ sick days are gone because of district policy. Some teachers have lost 20-30 days because they tested positive 2-3 times even though they have no symptoms. Because of this, some teachers have stated they will not test and will just come to school unless their symptoms are too severe.
Learning about this group. Joined a while ago but between getting married and COVID have not participated here. Now changing to an active participant. Look forward to learning the ropes :)
How do you think companies will change their future planning strategies coming out of the COVID crisis?
For single working professionals, early 30s, just sharing some frustration. I feel lonely and I am tired of going on dates (I hate the process), especially that the only way to meet people is online since COVID, where you know absolutely nothing about the other person than their name and profession. How do you meet people? The last 2 years have been especially difficult and tiring.
Are people shaking hands when meeting people in office now? Haven’t been into an office since pre Covid and just started a new job
Some states are cancelling testing for the year. Do you think COVID could be the end of standaridized testing?
There's a lot of pressure from parents for us to return to in person instructionin my district despite rising COVID numbers. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Does anyone know how many times I can get impressions made for Invisalign? I’ve gotten them done twice already (once when I fist started and again about 6 months later). Recently, just two months after the my second impressions, I got covid and was so sick that I didn’t care to wear my tray for two weeks. Now the tray won’t fit…so this would be my third time for new impressions.
What are yalls preferred first dates? Trying to take Logan Ury's advice and make dates more fun and less like a job interview. A little more complicated with it being winter (where I live) + COVID rules...but would love your suggestions!
Hi Fishes, I need help in how to negotiate for joining bonus with HR, how to ask for JB. Do HPE give joining bonus?
Hey guys, Cleared 2 round of interview in EY GDS and awaiting further update from HR. Currently hold offer of 28 CTC(24 fixed, 2.5 variable) and 30CTC(29Fixed). My CCTC is 17 with 10.5 YOE as BA in Cards and Payment Domain. How much should I ask, do they give good offer considering its BIG4
Started a job recently and got $30k sign on bonus that I have to pay back if I leave within a year. If I do leave, I know I have to pay back the gross amount before taxes but what happens to my taxes? Do I just get a corrected w-2 to state that I gave that amount back and that income was returned? Would I get a huge tax refund in that case?
Fish, I’m still having a really hard time feeling content with my career path. I was raised by a plaintiffs litigator, and I still feel like that’s who I am at heart. But the economics don’t make sense today - very risky and pays a fraction of big law for associates. Also, most plaintiffs firms are not anywhere you’d want to work culturally. Right now I’m corporate. I sort of enjoy it, but it doesn’t seem like people ever stay to make partner bc of the stress, and I can see why. Any thoughts?
Hey fishes, I have joined Cognizant as a business analyst in July 2021. I got allocated to a project, but my billing hasn't been started. I fill training and non-billable in timesheet and has never been exposed to the client yet, but I work with some seniors and assist them. Learning is stagnated, and I feel that how is it possible that a guy from 6 months is allocated to a project but neither getting work nor billable? Is it normal in Cognizant? Please help me to understand.

Can we take a moment to discuss Brad Jenkins / Brad Taylor / Tim Curtis’s endgame? The same person masquerades as three different people, collects resumes, and then ghosts. Can we can we get this person de-platformed from LinkedIn? He’s unethical at best and based on experience he’s likely selling resumes without consent. Thoughts?
Still haven’t received an email from Accenture leadership about the celebration for Juneteenth...🤔 am I too early?

Hi, I’m resigning from the Indian mnc employer soon. The client whom I was assigned to work is ready to hire me as full time . But there is a non compete clause with my employer stating I should not directly join the client for 6 months. My question here is whether the client can start his hiring process after 3 mnths and have my starting date as 6 mnths later or the hiring prcs itself can be started oly after 6 mnths completion? bcoz I’m on visa, it will take 3 months to finish visa transfer.

Posting for my girlfriend. She is looking for entry level software developer jobs, she did a bootcamp and had ~7 months coding experience, and another 3-4 years in marketing. Where’s the best place to look, or any leads? Ideally wants to be client facing, rather than testing and fixing bugs of massive backend corporate software

What’s the closest we can get to Lexis or West law with practical law guidance without a 1k a month price tag. I’m having a hard time selling that in house.
