I like the OG ones. I was about to buy a new pair. Mine are 2.5 years old and the battery is down to an hour.
I just ordered a pair of the old ones. Sometimes, old is gold ;)
Have you tried different sized eartips? The fit is usually a lot better with the Pro.
I just lost my Pros but didn’t like the fit to begin with. Yeah, tested all the tips. Nothing fits in my right ear! It kept falling out when I’d bend over. Horrible for working out!

I have the pros and love them, the noise cancellation is a game changer for me (esp walking around nyc). But I was also really happy with the old AirPods, and would’ve kept using them if they hadn’t broke (my fault).

I wouldn’t pay full price for them that’s for sure. Thankfully I had money from D for phone accessories
Old ones work and fit better

OP there's a few I've been eyeing; I like finding unexpected brands because that's usually where the real value gems like to hide. I've seen consistently positive reviews of:
- Panasonic RZ-S500W
- Cambridge Audio Melomania 1
- EarFun Air Pro
- MPow X3
- Sennheiser Momentums
Sony and Bose - I personally can't get past them not having built-in volume controls but if that's not a dealbreaker and you want brand name, go for it.
Ultimately, there's nothing "wrong" with AirPods or PowerBeats - I have PB's and like them because the cord makes them hard to lose.
I just really enjoy a purchase where it's not so cheap I have to keep replacing it but not so expensive that losing it would be a headache.
Pro
I love my pros and my maxes. Both are phenomenal tbh.
